Pros

Most of the newer people that are good to work with and are open to change. The overall culture and values are great, just not within the IT management function.

Cons

Senior IT management and several of the IT managers have been in place for almost two decades and have no meaningful experience outside of the company and are not open to new ideas or new ways (automated) of doing existing (manual) tasks. IT Security is a mess. Their refusal to integrate or decommission old systems from mergers that happened years ago has resulted in gaping vulnerabilities. What counts as secure at this company would get you fired at most other companies. There is no accountability to neglecting operational tasks. Most of IT is contractor and their is a heavy reliance on outsourcing. When your IT is outsourced it means the business does not perceive value in the services IT is providing. They thrive on fighting fires like to brag about working 10-14 hours a day.

Pros

The heart of the company are the employees the people that actually do the work, the best I have worked with! The vision of the company is great and a rags to riches story is great, the CEO at one point in time had more interest in the actual well being of his company. If your willing to work 15 hours a day they will accommodate you.

Cons

Senior and upper level management are disconnected from the day to day actual events on the deckplates, it is daunting to see safety issues go un abated due to a supposed lack of money, when at any time of the week there are several six figure executive cars parked in the main building. Nothing like rubbing your employees noses in their personal wealth made off the sweat of their hard work.

Pros

The people one the deck plates are some of the most solid people I ever had the pleasure to work with. I didn't get along with everyone, but that's life. The work is fast paced and I learned a lot working there. The prevailing wage was amazing, but people get used to it and think they deserve that pay all the time.

Cons

Frank Foti, despite his well intentions, is unaware of the backstabbing and favoritism that occurs in the upper management. I worked there for 5 years. Although I recieved compliments on my work and finished jobs that no one else wanted to step foot on I only got a 2 dollar raise. I know it sounds like complaining, but I got that raise my first year. After that I couldn't get a raise to save my life. My work was well received by inspectors and boat owners alike. But because I didn't go out of my way to brown nose the bosses I didn't get a bump in pay. I'm not the only one either. Don't get me wrong, I'm very grateful to have worked there, but I moved on to another company that pays better and treats me better.
