Pros

Flexible work environment. Some very nice people.

Cons

CEO seems out of touch with what is taking place in the organization. Anyone that has ever spoken to the CEO with concerns about specific individuals has ended up demoted. As a result, there has been an erosion of trust and employees have all gone into a mode of "saving themselves" instead of providing a balanced opinion on matters. Middle management is told that Senior Management doesn't have to explain themselves, so middle management has to do their best to explain major decisions to employees. All too often the term "toxic" is tossed around - which is something I have never heard in my 5+ years of working at GTL. When the truth is worse than the rumors, then company has truly become toxic.

Toxic

Pros

If you like lower than industry standard wages, this is the job for you! Watch your back! You never know when you will have a dagger in it!

Cons

The amount of time spent looking for ways to place blame on workers is unbelievable. Every item that is placed into development allegedly has customer approval and has been reviewed by a Program Manager, Business Analyst, Team Lead and peer revirlews. Unless you truly enjoy being singled out for errors resulting from poorly gathered requirements or working with incomplete information... run. There are managers who consistently control the flow of information in order to maintain a false competitive edge over employees.

Pros

Truthful positive: I enjoyed my job and the people with whom I worked daily. You can hang around for long time without doing any real work as long as you don't say the wrong thing to the right person. If you are willing to brown nose, lie for the company, ignore your conscience, and abuse those under you, you may be able to fail upward. If you are in management and sell your soul and actively cut the throats of your equals to get ahead, you will. If you want to be rewarded for incompetence, lack of concern for the success of your subordinates, the customer or the reputation of yourself or the company, work here. These are sarcastically "Pro" but there are some who have had success at this company because of them.

Cons

401(k) matching is paid once per year, whenever they feel like it. They make excuses for not sharing profits every year yet somehow find the money to constantly buy up failed competitors. There is no accountability unless you are low enough in the food chain to be blamed. Your employment is threatened daily for simple things like asking a question about policy or for telling a customer the truth. You are expected to have experience and knowledge to do things for which you were neither hired nor trained. You are not given the proper training or guidance on how to accomplish complicated projects. You are vilified when inspection of your work under these handicaps does not meet the unrealistic expectations. The management is constantly looking to cut corners to increase their bonuses. The result is to make the actual workers' jobs harder and to foment resentment when the reaction to expressing legitimate concerns is met with threat of termination. It is difficult to care about your work or do an excellent job when those you depend on to do it don't care. If you are honest, hard-working and have integrity, this place will wear you down and turn you into a resentful hateful person. You must constantly harass managers and accounting for your expense reimbursements. If you don't, you won't get paid. There are secret "benefits" that, though you may be eligible, are not published anywhere. A description of your duties and how to advance are not published. Depending on your manager or department, published company policies either don't apply or they are altered unofficially. If you don't talk to your co-workers you wouldn't know this. I could continue however this should be sufficient to deter anyone from seeking employment here.
