Pros

This is changing rapidly, as there is a mass exodus of talent and experience -- but there are truly kind people at Vi-Jon that would go out of their way to help and support you. I had some optimism for the ESOP- but it has been used to justify bad behavior, not giving cost of living raises, etc.

Cons

This is hard to write, as I have been a long-time employee through many leadership teams and strategic directions. This leadership team (C-level) makes poor decisions which have massive impact on the company - for example, not utilizing history (H1N1, etc.) to help inform inventory decisioning for COVID-19. Now we are screwed - way too much inventory and company is at risk. The management team will not listen to reason, and also implemented a "butts in seats" policy during a global pandemic - which also included in house safety precautions such as cardboard walls and expired sanitizer and IPA. A lot of people got COVID due to these archaic policies. About two years ago, the company was reorganized - removing any level of diversity of thought and or experience from the leadership team. Everyone on the C-team were connected to the same prior company and are trying things in business that likely worked in the early 1990's. There is no vision, no care - it's a shadow of what it used to be. Also, women and minorities were removed from leadership positions and/or exited the company. This is not a safe space for anyone who is ethical and respects/values diversity. There is the token HR female leader, but that's about it. Pay is bare minimum, and not competitive. Another reason for the issues with employee retention.

Thank you for sharing your opinion on Vi-Jon. We appreciate that you took the time to provide us with feedback. However, we must respectfully disagree with some of your comments. To begin, we do agree that Vi-Jon is full of talented, caring people who believe that we are one team with one vision. Following Vi-Jon’s reorganization as an Employee-Owned company, leadership laid out their plans for that vision, which includes growth over the long-term. As with any change, the benefits will become more evident over time. Vi-Jon is a growing company, and like other manufacturers, we have been impacted by the challenges associated with the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Unlike H1N1, the scale and duration of the COVID pandemic have presented unique hurdles that we continue to navigate. As a manufacturer, Vi-Jon has always had 24/7 operations. Our employee-owners work around the clock to produce private label health and hygiene products, items that are essential when it comes to protecting your health. Due to the pandemic, our workforce faced increased demands, and we committed to supporting those operations employees and our business by working together in-person as a team. Regarding diversity, Vi-Jon is committed to representing the communities where our employee-owners live and work and currently, our demographics are over 50% minority. As part of that goal, our Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Team focuses on recognizing the importance of diversity and promoting the value of corporate social responsibility. Again, the vision for the DEI Team is a long-term one and its impact will be felt over time. We understand that the benefits of long-term visions – such as the ESOP – may not be obvious from day to day, but we ask that you please keep in mind that growth takes time. And after more than 110 years in business, Vi-Jon continues to keep its eye on the future. If you would like to discuss further, please know that you can always contact your HR Representative or call the corporate HR team.

Pros

I was not micro-managed. I was barely managed at all actually. I enjoyed my co-workers. Company has superior products that are easy to sell.

Cons

I dont even know where to start. It doesn't matter what you do, you are never safe at this company. Upper management are bullies who really don't do much to help the people who actually work. I've seen some very good sales people get axed for nothing. Seriously, nothing! HR has no clue here. If you file an HR complaint , you've essentially signed your walking papers. It's the most bizzare company I've ever worked at. I do not recommend getting a job here. You will hate it and if you make it past a year you'll be lucky. You will also be confronted if it's even suspected you have left a negative review of the company. Watch your back everyone.

Pros

Some of my coworkers and the diversity.

Cons

A rudderless ship without a course. Either the C team is fleecing the company and trying to run off log-term (vested) employees or they are simply incompetent. The company is ran by a bunch of CFO's in an echo chamber that have no vision.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts on the current state of the company. We appreciate your candidness, even if we disagree with your outlook. Like countless other companies over the past two years, Vi-Jon has had to tack hard into COVID-19 headwinds. The ongoing disruption in the workforce and supply chains continues to present challenges that we must constantly navigate so we can reach our goals and increase the value of our Employee-Owners’ shares. Vi-Jon leadership has laid out their long-term vision for growth and are steering the company in a direction that will ultimately benefit our Employee-Owners. While leadership can chart our course, it takes all hands on deck to get us there. As employee-Owners, each of us are responsible for the success of Vi-Jon. And remember, rough seas make strong sailors, as the saying goes. Please feel free to reach out to HR with any other questions or concerns.
