Pros

- Many bright people worked here - Compensation is fine - Sense of camaraderie inside the security consultant team makes the pain of working here bearable - WFH and work life balance is good - The SAST core product is ok

Cons

- As a consultant you will also be expected to handle customer support or solution architect issues 40% of the time - Engineering cutting corners when developing the product, which I assume due to lack of man power since there are a lot of tech debt caused by them cutting corners - UI/UX design team seems to forget we are in 2023 now and still using UI language from 2010s - New products are developed instead of improving the existing ones - As the result of all of the points above, naturally customers are frustrated and sometimes will take it out on any Veracode personnel they have a chance to talk to

Veracode Response

As an engineering organization we have fully adopted a shift left approach and mindset to developing our software, with teams taking ownership and accountability for building in quality testing and activities earlier in our SDLC to ensure quality of our products is considered right at the beginning. Across Veracode we are hyper-focused on our customers and ensuring our products enable them to achieve their goals and objectives. When our customers experience issues, we appreciate the collaboration across teams, especially those who are product-facing in helping to resolve these issues as quickly as we can. We continuously review our prioritization to strike the right balance of resolving customer issues, addressing areas of tech debt, and developing new features and capabilities.

Pros

Talented team members who are smart and capable make working here easy.

Cons

Requirements for advancement can be unclear at times - clearer expectations would incentivize team members to work in a way that management wants to see.
