Pros

This company used to be great, until new leadership came in and ruined most of the good stuff around 2014 (Alicia Murphy, Stacie Osako, Jeff Miller, and the corrupt HR team). It's all about who you know there, and playing the power game. They make every effort to market themselves as the best place to work, but it ends there. They have "unlimited vacation" but I actually got less when that came about. I also happened to have a terrible boss for my 10 years I was there, so that didn't help either.

Cons

1. Dishonest leadership team who only looks out for theirselves. 2. Chairman of the board is very slimy and greedy. 3. Hard work is not rewarded, only office politics matter. 4. Leadership team has made bad business decisions in the last ten years. 5. Promote bad people and fire good people.

Pros

The best thing about Van Meter is their time off policy. They have TOTAL time. Which means time off to appreciate life. It's cool because that's the best thing about Van Meter is being paid not to be there.

Cons

They promote People based on how much they like them and not qualifications. They paid below the national average. A scam you with this great dream of ESOP when in fact if they just paid you a little more you'd be better off investing that money yourself. They like to look good for the public and really don't care about their employees. They promote People based on gender and age instead of qualifications. they talk about drinking the Kool-Aid and if you don't drink that Kool-Aid you are Outcast and shunned. If you don't enjoy the Kool-Aid you will be expected to do more work than others. It's like Middle School there with a cult following.

Cons

Leadership was inconsistent. They talked about culture but they terminated good employees without explanation.
