Pros

Some of the colleagues are great!

Cons

During my time at Unity I encountered a continuous cycle of toxicity which was extremely detrimental to everyone’s mental health. The senior management team, all two of them, think it’s appropriate to shout at the Marketing Team to get their point across. They also think it’s appropriate to shout at each other, which, quite frankly, sums up the general attitude of the company. You’ll see one of these senior managers cry constantly, talk about crying and have hissy fits, it’s like being at school, yet they call it “the change curve”. They seem to think creating a new “break out room”, forced work events and pizza will make up for the overall toxicity of the place. No one wants to be there past their end time as everyone is drained at that point! That’s unless you’re in the favourite group, then your life is pretty easy. There is one rule for one and another for someone else, some people get to work from home as and when they like, yet others aren’t and are tracked constantly. If you decide to be friends with people it must be in secret or you’ll be watched 24/7 and comments will be thrown about. For example, a conversation I was having with a colleague in the morning, before our start time, was questioned. There are cameras all throughout the building, and they are watched, so there is no place to have a confidential meeting with your manager, as this will be watched. Even on your breaks you’ll be watched who you’re speaking to as there are cameras in the breakout room. Chats on your computer are monitored along with work, again, unless you’re part of the small favourites. No sick pay, unless they decide they believe that you are sick, then you get paid. For example, I had a fever in November 22 and had to be off for two days, but didn’t get paid. Yet in February when I had the stomach bug that was going around, I got paid for the 1 day I was off. Not only this but they call you three times throughout the day to check to see how you are doing, when you’re sick you want to be left alone. I would suggest getting a HR person in the company, but no HR professional would touch this place. Absolutely thrilled to be out of this horrible company. Anyone looking to join should really think about their personal life and their career, multiple new starters have left after only just a week, which speaks volumes. Listen to what people say about this company, as they have a reputation in the area for being a horrible workplace.

Pros

Some colleagues were friendly and approachable, which made day-to-day interactions more pleasant. However, many were primarily focused on their own interests, likely due to the competitive or uncertain work environment.

Cons

Working at Unity Online was a challenging experience. The work environment often felt toxic, with little regard for employee well-being. The CEO and senior management appeared disengaged from staff as individuals, prioritising business outcomes over workplace culture. Promises made by management were frequently broken, leading to frustration and low morale. There was noticeable favouritism, which impacted career progression and fairness within the company. Additionally, the office environment was often disruptive, with excessively loud music and a lack of proper training or support for new employees.
