Pros

Colleagues are good for the most part and the majority of the team leaders are great.

Cons

hired on the premise I'd be working shift pattern between 8-8 just to be told a week after I'd signed etc the shift pattern is changing to 7-10. This was just one of many deliberate 'miss communications' and I've only been here 2 months! Already staffing issues (short staffed with high turnover) these new hours have accelerated this issue as understandably no one is going to agree to work a 2-10 over the weekend for 10.15 an hour. Some sites are left in disrepair while 100s of thousands are wasted on brand new company cars for middle management and company wide 'team events' in which employee feedback is deliberately ignored. Despite acknowledging the decrepit condition of some of the company's oldest sites 'the level of customer service provided ' is highlighted as the biggest area of improvement essentially blaming the lowest paid members of staff for the systematic failures present in all every city Unite trades in. I could honestly go on and on but I'm sure you get the picture AVOID unless you desperate and need a fall back while you look for other employment (I can assure you all the current staff would be in this same boat with you.)

Pros

- Since starting Unite I have made unreal memories and would consider some of my colleagues good friends of mine now, they are the only reason I am still here.

Cons

***Chief customer officer Karan has initiated a business re-structure, removing any possible chance for us night employees to have a healthy work life balance. They have blackmailed us into signing a new contract signing our life away into doing more hours or to reduce our hours for less pay. They haven't taken into consideration any of the counter proposals that have been put forward as this doesn't suit their agenda, if they needed more staff all that was required was a better salary that reflects the hard work required for nights. They have no consideration for the front line staff who are the ones that keep this business going*** -Senior and middle management are useless -Below industry average salary

Pros

The staff are all quite young and fun, and you have a chance to work with a lot of different people. If you enjoy working with students and don't mind long working hours this might be the place for you.

Cons

A lot of responsibilities with no real financial rewards. When you apply for a Service and Sales assistant job you have the feeling that it will ne an easy job based on admin and office responsabilities. It ends up being so much more, you are expected to work long hours during turnaround, work weekends and bank holidays with no real compensation other than overtime which is just your basic hourly rate. You will end up doing all sorts of jobs that are not in your job description with no compensation. I was running the office, inspecting rooms, cleaning rooms during turnaround, planning events, doing viewings, pushibg sales, moving furniture, dressing rooms, all of this while also providing great service to our customers. You are also asked to be in charge of other areas of the business depending on your abbilities, you can do social media for the city, procurement, event planing, competitor analysis and so much more. All of these tasks are being piled on you and you are expected to do everything in the same amount of time with no monetary compensation. The salaries are low and there is no real growth potential. Sure there is a becoming a supervisor or manager program that you can apply to after being with the company for a year. The truth is however; that the programs last a year and even if you get so lucky as to be mominated for it, there is no position you can fill, unless someone leaves the company and you take over their role. Alternatively if you get into the supervisor program and pass the examination you can relocate to a different city and fill in a supervisor position where needed. The company looks fun ftom the outside but you need to do your homework before applying. Otherwise you will end up hating it after 3 months.
