Pros

Welcoming and friendly (When you are performing). Great Office and Good Location Great Supportive back office team Provide great tools and facilities to help eg LinkedIN licenses.

Cons

TERRIBLE at matching management styles with different individuals. Leadership is weak, which explains the inability to retain Junior/middle management. If you are not one of the "originals" you will always feel like an outsider to an extent, and fighting an uphill battle. Large turnover of staff at all levels towards the end of 2019 going into 2020. Why bother having Values plastered over the walls if they are not followed by Management, but expected of all consultants. They get employees to post reviews on glassdoor whilst they are still new and being treated in the best way

Pros

If your lucky enough to have a good manager and be given good roles you could do okay. The pool table is nice and St Albans as a location is great. Some fun events

Cons

You have to work insane hours to scrape by or succeed. Insanely KPI focused and target driven. Very very clique heavy environment. When you start off pay is poor. Take advantage of the graduate market because don't have a good enough proposition for more successful recruiters.

Thank you for taking the time to give us your feedback. We are really disappointed to hear that your time working in recruitment was not as you expected. As with any sales orientated role, recruitment has KPIs and is target driven and can be hard for employees to maintain a healthy work-life balance. As a company, we are conscious of aiding work-life balance and our employees’ wellbeing, which is why on the 1st of January this year, we have introduced unlimited holiday and 2-hour lunches. At UR we try to maintain an inclusive culture, we host regular team-building events and socials to help with this. We would appreciate the chance to speak to you directly to better understand your experience. If you’re happy to do this confidentially, please contact our Head of HR, Lisa Booth (lisa@understandingrecruitment.co.uk).
