Pros

Lot's of over time. Good benefits. Employees can buy the product when extra is available. Tyson does believe in giving people second and sometimes third chances. Tyson does not discriminate against people with nonviolent Felonies. The company is known for it's liberal attitude about believing people do make mistakes in life and they will work with you. I can also say even with a felony record you can move up to several lower management positions. Tyson is a Faith Friendly Company. Your first year with Tyson you get 1 week of paid vacation then on your 5th year you get another week of paid vacation. Once you have been with the company for 10 years you get 3 weeks of paid vacation.

Cons

There is very little time for family or a personal life as a team member at Tyson. We work 6 days a week with occasional 7 day work weeks. If you have a family plan on not seeing them. Tyson will consume your life with work. We have a 13 point attendance system, every time you don't show up for work you get a point. Once you reach 13 points you're fired. There are exceptions to the rule but very few.

Pros

Good money and good benefits.

Cons

Long hours- ten to twelve hour days are very normal as is working 6 days a week. Although they pay their salaried team members well the hourly workers are underpaid for the extremely hard work that is required of them. As a result they have a annual turn over rate of over 100%. They have over 1000 hourly workers at the Shelbyville plant so they have to hire over 100 team members a month to keep the plant staffed. As a result the work force has been tapped out so they mostly get uneducated non english speaking workers.
