Pros

Compensation was fair and the 4.5 day work week was nice (if you could use it)

Cons

Leadership team FORCES managers and supervisors to fill out GlassDoor reviews and give company positive reviews! Favoritism, cliques, management team biased and stuck in the "good ol' days". Unwilling to change the culture and HR is a joke!! No direction, support or feedback unless it is done during the annual review process (also a joke) then you are completely blindsided with incorrect biased feedback without any documentation or examples/proof. Once you leave the company, members of the leadership team will give negative reviews to potential future employers within the same industry so you aren't considered for positions elsewhere - and YES, I do have proof that this has happened.

Pros

37.5 hour work week, half day once a week (some departments get Fridays, mine does not), onsite gym at super low price, 401k matching, employer paid life insurance. Most benefits are okay except the health insurance.

Cons

Where do I start? Management blatantly plays favorites with complete disregard for their employees. No opportunity for advancement unless you are in the cool club. Women act like high school drama queens, with nothing better to do than make people feel bad about themselves. Management hides in their offices and bark orders via email, demanding productivity. They are not leaders, in my opinion. They are bosses, not managers, and bullies in some cases. Health insurance is a joke. Extremely high deductibles. By the time you meet your deductible you will be broke. For an insurance company, I find it interesting they offer the crappiest health insurance.

Succession, but Dumber

Pros

The best part were my coworkers. Most of them have left. See “cons” below.

Cons

Executive Leadership Team- When you’re early in your career, you look for opportunities to interact with senior management, and being promoted to work more closely with them is an exciting prospect. Trustmark is the kind of place where these dreams go to die, because once you get there, you realize that the executive leadership team is filled with disappointingly average people at best. At worst, they’re cowards that make decisions about people’s lives based on how to maintain their own tiny slice of power, and not with any sense of personal integrity. It’s like Succession, but with poorer, even dumber people. This is probably true for many companies, but don’t go to this place hoping for any kind of inspiration. Human Resources- White people will get second, third, one hundredth chances, while your colleagues of color will get one. I personally observed several instances of this at various levels, and when I shared this with HR, they just responded with versions of, “but here’s why those people of color deserved it.” Inspiring!

Trustmark is justifiably proud of its culture, and we strive to treat everyone with dignity and respect. This is evidenced by the fact that Trustmark is a three-time winner of a Chicago Tribune Top Workplace award. Among Trustmark’s highest rated areas are in values and management (e.g., “Trustmark operates by strong values”; and “My manager cares about my concerns.”) When asked, the top three words associates use to describe Trustmark’s culture are: Caring, Flexible and Inclusive. Your feedback has been heard, and we wish you well.
