      Nice place to work, little in way of career advancement

      Pros

      Great office space, you can go visit the animals anytime you need to clear your head. Pretty cool business card to have. There's always something exciting going on.

      Cons

      Very silo-ed organisation, often the case that one department has no clue what the other department is up to. Difficult to push new ideas through, internal battles to win approval are far more difficult than external battles - typical government though. Gossip haven.

      part of reciprocal exchange program (get access to other tourist places for free)

      Way too stressful, coworkers are mean and judgemental, management demands a lot but keeps position understaffed

      Pros

      - It's a lot of fun and you're guaranteed to make amazing friends and memories - It's unionized - In my department, there wasn't a ton of sitting around - it was nice to be up and doing something the whole day - The animals! And some opportunities to go behind-the-scenes

      Cons

      - Unless you're a full-time keeper, you don't have a ton of control of when you get sent home on slow days (unless you have high seniority) - Depending on your department, it can be gossipy - Some management/supervisors tend to pick favourites
