I'm really sorry you feel this way. I would have appreciated more details in your feedback so I could respond better. We don't actually have many juniors here at ToolBox. We push technology and process to the edge of the envelope and have the best of the best technologists, analysts and merchandisers in the business that help us deliver our products and services. As of the writing of this persons review, Feb 2014, the direction has been crystal clear where we are going both from the merchandising and technology side of the business. We are going to blow the doors off the industry with our new offerings which has been in the works for some time. It's not a complicated recipe here at ToolBox. The best skilled people with great personalities come together to do great things. We are all in it together. We care for one another. We care about this company and want to do things right. Not everyone gets us, we know that but for those that do, it's the best place to be.

Pros

Pay is ok, and decent benefits and bonus structure. They also give you great tools and tech stuff.

Cons

Leadership team are disrespectful and arrogant. They put alot much pressure on employees, also they seem to be quite rude.

I have a real problem with this statement. Respect in the workplace is something the whole leadership team lives and breathes. We do something most companies don't do. We tell people the truth. We are open and honest in our communication, even when it's not great news. The leadership team is not arrogant and you will not find large ego's anywhere at ToolBox. We are real. We rally around one another. Since this person was only at ToolBox for a short time, I can only surmise that they didn't "get us" and it was just a bad cultural fit or they were unable to "swim" (as someone else put it) with us technologically. Yes, we want you to be the best. We are going to give you challenging work to do and we will want you to do it in the time frames that you tell us it can be done in. Having grown up as a developer, that is all I ever wanted... to have challenging work, to work with the best people and have the work I do be appreciated. We do all of that here. I'm sorry your experience here was less than stellar and hope you have found something that suits you better.

Pros

There are smart people there with a good sense of humour to work with The company outings are fun when they happen

Cons

Weak leadership over the last year They don't seem to have a direction doing the opposite of what they say Social media is basically forced on employees through contests where you are mocked if you don't participate

We are consistent with our outings and they happen in the fall (2 weekday cabin camping), at Christmas (out of town for a weekday overnight) and other events sprinkled around throughout the year. The direction was set in summer 2012 and again in February 2013 and we have been consistent in our direction and messaging. Our leadership team isn't weak at all. They are each leaders in their fields of expertise and we are lucky to have the depth we have. Social media challenges are a rallying cry for the company to shout out about ToolBox and remember what it is we are striving for. We have weekly prizes and the winning team takes the afternoon off to go to a Blue Jays game. It's not forced on people but some people get competitive, that's true. So if our crime is having people that want to win, we're guilty. We're not going to stop trying to be the best nor are we going to stop doing things to bring people together and working as a team. That is part of who we are.
