Pros

-Handful of great draftsman to work with and some great Architects -Company outing at Lagoon once a year -Most up to date Autodesk versions -Never short of office supplies -Vendors bring great treats -Get to work on both residential and commercial -Great place if you like to sit in the background and coast and not be noticed for your talent -Great place if you like to redesign thing over and over and if you don't like projects to end -Great place if you never want to move up in your career and enjoy staying at the same place -Great place if you are good at design, but do not want to take credit for it. The management will take the recognition for you. -Great place to work if you hate recycling and the environment. They do not recycle any of the thousands of sheets wasted daily. -Also great place if you don't have any health restrictions like gluten free, vegan, vegetarian. All office parties make sure to not include any options for them.

Cons

-You must pay for water or any snacks -You must be in the office at exactly 8am, take your lunch at noon (no longer than an hour or you will be criticized) and you cannot leave one minute earlier than 5pm. You are encouraged to stay as late as you can. -If you need the adobe suite it is very difficult to get -You will be offered the many appealing promises but will not actually see them followed through. When they hire you they tell you one thing but they do not live up to the expectation, so do not be disappointing if you think you will get to design and you end up only drafting. -Turnover rate is very high. They constantly loose draftsman and cant keep any of the Interior Designers. If they don't like you they will fire you and sweep it under the rug. Transparency is very hard to come by. -Upper management treats staff awful. The draftsman are in constant fear of loosing their jobs and feel like they are walking on eggshells. The CEO and COO yell at their employees and talk down to them. Very disrespectful and unprofessional environment. -Not the place to be if you want to advance and grow in your career. -Office is outdated. For an architecture/design firm you would Think (get it?) they would care about the atheistic. -The Architects do not respect the Interior Designers -Lack of office culture -Not a progressive firm. It is very dominated by Utah Religious culture, if you are not part of that it is difficult to fit in or move up. -No maternity leave for women. Very male dominated. Zero female Principals. Women are not meant to feel like they are on the same level as the men.

Dear Anonymous Employee, I am so sorry that you felt like you had such a negative experience. I think it is appropriate to take this opportunity to respond to your accusations as this was quite concerning to read what you posted here, but to have never heard one concern, request, suggestion, or complaint on your issues and accusations made during the short period you say you worked here. The proper thing to do would have been to first approach your Manager, and if uncomfortable there, go to the Office Manager, or to one of the Shareholders. Our doors are always open. If you had been more forthright and willing to stand behind your concerns much earlier rather than letting them fester and do nothing about them, we could have looked at remedies where needed. Our culture has always been one of open doors, employee respect, progressive compensation and benefits package, and advancement to employees that have earned it. In addition, our turnover is way below industry standards, and I only had to lay off one person in 7 years for poor performance so I am not sure where you get your information. We do have to set work hours as our clients do require we be available during typical business hours. If you had concern over this, I wish you would have brought it up during the interview and Job Acceptance process as those discussions and documents are clear regarding our expectations for offering employment. Many of your other concerns I will not address because they have no relevance to an employer and employee relationship based on sex, religion, or race. I will say that Think Architecture is 100% committed as an equal opportunity employer and again these kinds of issues should have been brought up by you if they truly existed. If you would like to continue this discussion and really be taken seriously, I openly invite you to contact us directly. You had so many opportunities to have a voice, be heard, or affect change where needed, but you chose to voice your displeasure behind an anonymous name on the internet. In closing, we here at Think Architecture wish you the best in your future endeavors wherever they may take you. Sincerely, Corey R. Solum, AIA CEO, President

Pros

This firm has diverse projects to choose from, that are great for your portfolio. Most principals can fit well in the role of NCARB mentor or supervisors. Tyler Kirk was my supervisor and I was able to fulfill all my requirements in 2 y and 11 m. Productive atmosphere, where questions are answered and interns can fulfill most of their required hours. Dedicated time for training, Lunch and Learn almost every week, Not paying for insurance is great benefit. Bonus pay every Christmas.

Cons

I read some negative comments from others, but I cannot provide such. To me cons were not significant for interns who wanted to learn and get their hours fulfilled. My supervisor was always happy to help with anything I needed. Perhaps pay may need to be in tune with current market needs, but I did not care at the beginning for that . Advice: New interns should interview 2-3 principals before settling on supervisor...that way they can choose someone who will attend their needs.

Pros

Has the Potential to grow into a Multi-Talented Firm, PROVIDED there is transparency in work and employees are appreciated. They should focus on keeping the talent in the firm instead of playing the blame game when things don't go their way.

Cons

Architecture: The management leaves most employees feeling insecure about their jobs. Firing and phasing out are a part of everyday business for them. There is a lack of respect and appreciation for the talent in this firm. Interiors dept: The lack of knowledge of the Senior Management here is astounding! The Interiors has a high turn-over of employees due to the lack of experience, knowledge and professionalism of senior management. Tactics of deflection, blame and fabricated stories are used to deflect from incompetency of management. Demeaning, disrespectful behavior are common towards employees and truth is a matter of convenience.

Dear Anonymous Employee, I am so sorry that you felt like you had such a negative experience. First, I am not sure you ever worked for us as I am not able to verify your employment based on you not willing to put your name on your review. Second, I want you to know we are taking your comments to heart. We do wish that you would have felt comfortable to come and talk to The office manager and myself, so we could have had open dialogue and looked for remedies before you felt you needed to post anonymous comments on the internet. Please feel open and comfortable to stand behind your words as we have always been one of open door accessibility. In addition, I will be the very first to acknowledge that we are open to constructive criticism and dialogue. If you would like to continue this discussion, I openly invite you to contact me.
