Pros

Decent property. Employee cafe is ok.

Cons

This is the first CIO - Kris Singleton - that I had met and worked for that did not have a clue about what the reality of IT is. She doesn't have a clue about how IT should be run. IF she can become CIO, I am pretty sure someone out of college with a BS in IT can become a better CIO. Heck, someone graduating from ITT with a certification can be CIO. She doesn't understand the first rule of management. She likes to spend money on useless vendors and equipment. At the least, she should understand what her team is trying to tell her. She provides preferential treatment, manages via improper communications with staff not reporting to her. Her behavior in inappropriate. She doesn't provide people with the proper forum to discuss issues. She does not DEAL with issues, just blows them off. Listens to third party vendors who have only the vendors best interests at heart. If anything her experience as a project manager has not taught her anything about managing projects or people. It is quite unfortunate that the Cosmo invests in people who are not aware of their job functions. A lot of good folks that are always afraid about when their boss is going to axe them. The management makes up stories to get you out of there if they don't like you because everyone is always backstabbing each other. The CIO allows it to happen so, nothing less to be expected from the lower echelon. I am not sure about the other business units, but IT is NOT the place to be at the Cosmo.

Pros

.... in the worst environments, there are always a few gems. I have a few people I enjoy working with. They are not purple and do not buy in to the cosmos bs.

Cons

working with a bunch of young inexperience hipster managers that dont know their head from a hole in the ground. i mean seriously, buy a suit that fits and isnt 3x too small, while your at it comb your hair. the cosmo is a trendy clicky superficial place to work. upper management is a joke. a company that claims to be so "different that matters" and COmmunity is the same that treats their employees like crap. its all a facade. these guys are nothing more than a plastic ad campaign. oh and dont put too much into the positive reviews on here. the company is very focused on their public image. i am sure most of those reviews were written by the incompetent HR department. they really should be focusing on doing their jobs better - LOTS of room for improvement.

Pros

Interesting property. Meals available for staff.

Cons

IT. There are worthy staff that see no chance for growth and are keeping their head down til they find the right opp to jump ship, which is the ongoing trend. Add tired of backstabbing favoritism and pettiness. Some just show up for the paycheck, some are rolling with it. That’s what’s left of IT from CIO Kris Singleton’s weak tech/managerial leadership. At a technical level her vision went as far as an “ICOP”. Her version of reality doesn’t match the mess she left behind. The division is limping along as staff continue to quit. The CIO didn’t effectively address long standing problems so teams were expected to just “get along”. She is unprofessional as a leader - from negative comments and eye rolling about employees in front of other staff in or out of IT - to fishing expeditions when “reaching out” to lower level employees. Many staff found her ways inappropriate/suspicious as an exec and small minded. Instead of taking ownership of tough problems the CIO went for denial or blame - throwing staff under the bus was an MO and remains a group norm. Overall, plenty of material on “what not to do” as a manager. This is the tone and example set at CIO level and hangs over the IT group even though Singleton is gone. New leadership is in limbo. The employees still left are holding the strings together while the IT group continues to bleed staff. Working in IT at other casinos on the strip can be challenging but this place is special. Working at Cosmopolitan isn’t a reason for IT people to stick around anymore.
