Pros

It's great being able to work from home, and the work appears to be fairly unlimited. Some of the clients are really very nice, and they are genuinely happy to receive help with their resumes.

Cons

The pay is appalling; the writer is not advised that you are not only writing a resume, you are supplying hours of unpaid customer service and free help desk support. If you send a question to the "editors" you are referred to the constantly changing and poorly arranged Knowledge Base to find the answer yourself. Management is accusatory and condescending ("don't question me!") and you may find your hard earned pennies snatched back (after completing all the work and spending hours on it) as management has acted as both judge and jury and taken a complaint from a client with low self-esteem as proof that you have broken the "rules" and you don't deserve to be paid. And the first you are aware that there is an issue is an curt email stating that your payment has been withheld! Incredibly unprofessional and poorly managed.

Cons

They charge their clients $150+ for resumes and only pay their writers $20-$28. The resumes require extensive rewrites, research, back and forth with the clients, and even an experienced resume writer can't do one in less than 3 hours. New writers must send their first three resumes through Quality Assurance which sends them back for rewrites over and over and if your QA person changes from one to another midstream (which it usually does) you will get different comments from different QA people. THIS IS A SCAM. After I quit, they emptied out my "account" like I'd never been there and never even got in touch with me at all.

Takes advantage of writers

Pros

There is usually work available (sometimes this isn't necessarily a pro because they impose tight deadlines).

Cons

Shockingly low pay. $20 for a resume that could take hours. $5 for a cover letter. It's insane. The company also sends out tons of surveys asking for feedback. Writers always say that they want higher pay and are always totally ignored, although the company says that they take feedback into account (they don't when it comes to pay).
