Pros

We have lost to many to count. The Owner does care but he and his new CEO believe new senior management blindly.

Cons

Zero accountability for senior management. The whole truth is never told to the CEO by some of his senior most management and good employees are fired to make up for their mistakes. This company has more than 20 VP's and it's a small company. The same people are always promoted or shuffled around and their previous positions are never back filled.

Pros

This used to be one of the best places in RI to work. It felt like family. all of the people who have been there a while really cared about the place and people used to give it everything they had because they believed in the ownership.

Cons

New CEO is just another corporate carbon copy executive. They pushed out really good people and gave incentives and created an atmosphere to make solid people retire early. they filled the place with new upper management pinheads. who are all yes men. The good people are scared to speak up

Pros

The company gives you a lot of control in driving processes. Since the company has many aged / undocumented processes across the business, there are many areas where a person with good ideas who works hard can make a big difference. The IT, finance, marketing, engineering teams and the folks on the floor are extremely hard working, albeit understaffed / under-resourced. But there is determination / creativity on those teams. When my wife and I had a baby, we were shown extreme kindness by our team and the company was extremely flexible with scheduling for appointments and childcare. During the pandemic, the company acted quickly to ensure the safety of their people. The company has a relationship with the Providence Performing Art Center, so sometimes they would provide free tickets to folks. They do a raffle for tickets fairly regularly.

Cons

Due to folks staying on for long periods of time with minimal oversight, niche business knowledge has walked out the door often. Though Taco had had a long history of excellent benefits, there were some very harmful decisions on benefits and employee compensation in recent years leading to employee dissatisfaction and exits. After 7 years of work at the company and providing 3 weeks notice that was used to document processes and train the people who would be backing up my work functions, I was not given an exit interview and the company did come to claim tuition reimbursement money 2 months after my exit, which is within their right, but disappointing. The policy on tuition reimbursement did change immediately before I enrolled in my Masters program to require partial repayment if you left before 3 years of completing courses, but I was disappointed that they chose to exercise that option on some courses after so many years working so hard for the company. More so than that, I was exceptionally disappointed and hurt with the lack of an exit interview, because I had lots of information that I felt would be helpful for the company. There are some major issues that should probably be addressed that I would like to have made known to the company. I originally put up a review that aired out a couple of those issues, but chose to remove the review and write a more generic review. I am more than willing to discuss specifics if someone from Taco would like to reach out. There was a period where 401k matches were stopped. They were later restarted. That same year, bonuses earned / promised / assured by management were not delivered. I nearly left at that time. In subsequent years, they were provided. Things did get better after that really awful year, but it is definitely not the company it once was.

Your feedback is appreciated. Yes, the tuition reimbursement policy does require repayment if someone leaves within 2 years with a reduced percent of repayment over that time. HR discusses repayment options before an employee leaves the company as full payment is not required upon departure. This is very common practice for such a benefit. It is good business practice to adhere to policies to ensure employees are treated equally and fairly. To waive this requirement for one person would be unfair to others. Exit interviews are done when feasible; however, employees are encouraged to share feedback and ideas at any time. As noted, there were many opportunities to apply skills and ideas. No employee should feel that they have to wait for an exit interview to share those ideas.
