Pros

You can learn a lot from the articles you read if you want. If you have a good manager and a good team you'll have fun. The company tries to organise outings and events. They provide transport and decent catered food.

Cons

They try to use employees to the max. They don't give time or provision for employees to refresh themselves. This is a sitting job. They should provide facilities to allow employees to use their muscles. If they see us walking outside they think we're not working enough. We have to sign a book every time we take our phone out of the lockers. If they see our names in the book more than once a day we are questioned. I guess they think we are still children and don't get important calls. HR is hopeless. They don't respond to mails and they are not reachable during the lockdown. They don't explain all the benefits that employees have. Claiming overtime is a task. The process is easy on paper but that process is not followed because they think employees will take advantage. We get OT only under certain conditions and not just because we have worked extra hours. The catered food is not great. The canteen is bad for vegetarians. They serve only egg or Maggi and junk food like chips and biscuits. There are no vegetables or fruits. No sandwiches. No juices. We get only half an hour break if we are lucky enough to come during the general shift. Other shifts get only 15 mins break. If we take longer breaks, they can deduct leave or we get loss of pay. The monthly pay is not great for the type of work. Sedentary work taking up most of our day spoils our physical and mental health in the long run. And a six day work weak doesn't give us enough time to rejuvenate and fix the negative effects of sitting for 8 hours a day in front of a computer screen. Our needs are not considered. We don't even have individual drawers at our desks. There's no concept of organisation. There is a 5S team but they don't really do much except audit and rate us. There's no awareness spread about 5S and how lean management is applicable to each employee. They hold kaizen presentations but no one explains what it means or what can be presented. Only the presenters are allowed to attend the presentations. They don't stand up for employees when clients send extra work. Instead we work 7 days a week and 10 hours a day. In summary, this is a place to get experience on your resume. Don't expect great salary or hikes.

Thank you for taking the time to leave a detailed review here. It is good to know that you are learning a lot from the papers you work on, and that you enjoy the company events. We are sorry to hear about your experience with some of our processes. Many of the points you raise merit exploration and then suitable action. It is our goal to continuously improve our procedures and technologies to meet the evolving organisational and employee needs - the new HRMS implementation late last year was in this direction and intended to make all processes more open and transparent. More work is being done on this front and you will experience these soon. We are also sorry that you haven't been able to reach HR. The team is working very hard to contact and stay in touch with each of our 3,000 staff members to check in on their wellbeing while we all work remotely. These are unprecedented circumstances and the HR team is doing their best whilst also braving the same home working challenges as everyone else. As a part of being more accessible, an HR Query Management System is being launched. At any time, you can write directly to the Head of HR on shubha.kasi@tnq.co.in for any concern. We recognise the importance of exercise and breaks while working, and the need to share information, which is why we have initiated events such as virtual Townhalls, and covered these topics. We encourage you to attend the next few company events to learn about everything we are doing. This has been an extremely challenging yet important time for the scientific publishing domain we are working in - with an influx of research papers from the scientific community, a complete change in operations shifting to working from home, and delivering on time for our global clients. The significant increase in our work at this time is because science is at the forefront of this fight against Covid-19 and our customers trust and depend on us to make these studies available to the scientific community across the world. This is the time when we need to step up as a company and support the scientific community. We want to thank you for your commitment and patience through the transition. If you'd like to have a chat with any of your leaders or speak to the CEO directly with any suggestions you may have, please write to him on abhi@tnq.co.in
