Pros

It is a name that you can put on your resume. When I joined there were a number of bright and hardworking individuals in our group and working with them was inspiring (especially my manager at the time).

Cons

Work is repetitive. Management lack basic leadership skills. Too procedural. Cannot remember the last time I went to work and learned something new, technical or non-technical. New processes introduced all the time. I am given weeks for tasks I can perform in a matter of hours. The moral is very low - people are watching videos, updating their FB status and even doing their personal day trading all day every day. You know that it is just a matter of time till everyone in the team quits after bonuses (which are in February). I am the second longest serving employee on the floor (non-manager, non-contractor).

Pros

Top talent exists throughout the organization which makes the organization a great place to learn. There seems to be a high potential for advancement. Pay is better than average.

Cons

A number of streamlined processes seem to be missing throughout the organization. The company moves quite slowly with adoption of new ideas. Seems set on past successes, making it harder to build for the future. Not many perks offered to employees.

Pros

I like the team I work with

Cons

I used to love working for TMX Group, but their recent decision to force a return to the office has completely changed my view. For years, employees proved that we could be just as productive—if not more so—while working remotely. We adapted, delivered results, and maintained high levels of collaboration, all while enjoying a better work-life balance. Then, with little consideration for the impact on our lives, they abruptly mandated a return to office. No real justification was given beyond vague statements about "culture" and "collaboration" despite the fact that we had been working seamlessly from home. Many employees had moved farther away, adjusted their lifestyles, and made commitments based on the flexibility we were promised. Now, we’re expected to waste hours commuting, deal with unnecessary office distractions, and sacrifice the work-life balance we worked so hard to achieve in exchange for the privilege of fighting over desks and meeting rooms. It’s clear that the company values control over both trust and efficiency. It’s disappointing to see a company that once embraced the future of work take such a regressive step. If you're considering working here, be warned: promises about flexibility mean nothing when leadership decides to go back on their word.
