Pros

1. Mature Manufacturing Environment TDPS has a strong reputation in large electrical machines, generators & motors. Exposure to heavy engineering procurement, machining, castings, motors, electrical components, fabrication, etc. 2. Good Supplier Base & Long-Term Relationships Robust vendor pool in India & overseas. Opportunities to work on strategic sourcing, cost negotiations, and contract management. 3. Stable Management & Financial Discipline Consistent order book from OEMs & utilities. Leadership is supportive of structured procurement practices. 4. High Learning Curve Hands-on experience in: RFQ → Tech/Commercial evaluation Cost reduction projects Import procurement Logistics & project-based sourcing Good exposure to end-to-end P2P cycle in a high-value CapEx environment. 5. Cross-Functional Collaboration Close working with Engineering, Production, Planning, QC & Finance. Excellent for developing negotiation, supplier development, and project management skills.

Cons

1. Processes Still Evolving Procurement digitalization (SAP/ERP workflows) could be improved. Several processes are still manually driven, causing delays and escalations. 2. Limited Automation Vendor performance dashboards, cost analytics, and procurement KPIs may not be fully digitized. Scope for improvement in SRM, MRP exception handling, and approval workflows. 3. Heavy Workload During Project Peaks When multiple generator or motor projects run parallel, workload becomes intensive. Procurement lead is expected to handle urgent requirements, engineering changes, and supplier follow-ups. 4. Slow Decision Cycles Approval cycles sometimes take longer due to traditional hierarchy. Can impact urgent sourcing or NPI timelines. 5. Supplier Dependency In certain categories (e.g., castings, stator/rotor components), vendor options are limited. Increases the pressure on negotiation and delivery tracking.
