- Excellent manager - Paul Lorsbach. Paul gives you a lot of freedom. This means you can be yourself, speak openly about anything, take time for personal reasons as you need it, etc. I feel like I can talk to him about anything, and I never have to guess how he feels about anything. He’s an honest and open book and it’s refreshing.
- Work / life balance. The whole company and the engineering team have a strong emphasis on work / life balance. This means it’s a genuine expectation of no more than 9-5 with 6 weeks of vacation.
- We all like and care about each other and get along.
- It’s the kind of engineering work I want to do with a modern event-driven architecture.
- No dumb questions.
- Emphasis on collaboration.
- Role is what you make it. If you want to take stuff on, learn new things, and go above and beyond there is opportunity to do that.
Cons
- Compensation package is bare bones, essentially only a base salary and the base salary is a little low in and of itself. So with no equity, no cash bonus, no matching 401k, it all sums up to a below-market package for engineers.
