Disappointing to say the least

Pros

Typically finish work right at 5:30pm. Super nice co-workers.

Cons

For an agency that describes itself as a 'Creative Lab', Sway is arguably the least creative environment in which I've ever worked. The majority of the work is healthcare-focussed so you're working purely within rigid templates, with little to no room for creativity beside swapping out stock images. Absolutely no room for growth or development. Incredibly high turnover rate of staff, very little security - staff contracts terminated without warning.

Work at Grow instead

Pros

- great work/life balance - can only speak for myself, but pay was above average for the area - *some* genuinely good, talented people work here - free coffee and occasional lunches (most likely mexican) - unlimited tap water

Cons

- micromanagement: 69/10 - boring af atmosphere and work. majority of the client work is not what you see on the site *cough* healthcare *cough. Imagine those infomercials where the old person grabs their back suddenly. - the quiet is broken by stress sighs from one of the owner's office, keyboard clacks as someone messages their desk neighbor on slack, hipster/urban outfitters music playing in the distance, and the rare person-to-person conversation. - you will be left asking yourself "what is the point?" - don't be mislead by the rock music and motorcycle raging out of the front doors. it's nothing like that. - if you're looking to grow and be challenged, look elsewhere. if you're looking to be told you're wrong and be fed minimal to little direction/guidance and be set up for failure, work at Sway.

Lack of HR + unrealistic expectations

Pros

Some nice coworkers made the job somewhat enjoyable. The pay was in line with similar roles at other companies.

Cons

No formal HR department will cost them big time in the future. There’s no training process or time, they expect you to not only hit the ground running, but will expect you to complete tasks completely outside of your job description. There’s no one to raise any concerns with because their “HR” personnel is actually an office administrator. Their review process can and is manipulated by leadership to fit their goals rather than the employees goals or actual performance.
