Pros

This company changed my life. It was a great company to work for several years ago. I’ve worked for Vivint, now Sunrun for close to 10 years. I was attracted to the company because of the culture. It was amazing! The leadership made you feel like we were all in it together. It truly felt like a family. The company invested in it’s people and it showed.

Cons

Now the company is filled with unethical toxic people. Management steals leads from you and goes behind your back to close deals you started. I’ve seen this going on for years now. If you are not Mormon you will not advance into any leadership role. They dangle the proverbial carrot in front of you and constantly push for more output. With the promise of advancement. Only to hire more Mormon men into the leadership positions. In addition there’s a ton of racial and sexual discrimination that goes on within the company. They have been sued in the past for discrimination and more than likely will be sued again. This is just from an employee standpoint. From a customer’s perspective, the company is horrible as well. Project management is atrocious. They make mistakes and don’t take responsibility when there’s a problem. It’s taken years to fix issues and they still don’t get resolved. I would NEVER recommend this company to anyone looking to work for them. Nor anyone looking to have them install solar on their home.

Pros

The job of Project Coordinator is very easy. The people on my team were great and very supportive. Liked the team at the solar branch I worked with a lot.

Cons

I took the role of Project Coordinator even at low pay because I wanted greater exposure to the field of project management and I wanted to work in a field to help the environment. This job IS NOT THAT. It's basically a glorified customer service role where you do admin assistant type work and have to deal with overpaid sales reps and needy customers who regularly get angry because what was sold to them isn't being delivered. I didn't feel like I was learning and growing at all in this role. This took me a step backward in my career. Management is a joke. My manager had serious time management issues and was good at talking and nothing else. You have to read off of a script 100% of the time with customers which is so boring and annoying. The benefits are also poor with little vacation, and poor insurance plans. I left this company months ago and am still paying medical bills from basic services b/c insurance wouldn't cover it. When the company DOES give you a day off, management requires all PCs to work overtime to make up for it. So why give people days off in the first place? Raises are minimal and are only based on tenure, not how well you're doing in the role. What's the point of QAing everything if you're not taking that into account when giving people raises. Turnover is super high and the values aren't taken into consideration. One of the values is being "human centered" but that's ONLY taken into account for customers, not their actual employees. You would get dinged if you took an unexpected sick day.

Pros

Sunrun is a high-growth company with tenacity and passion. There are lots of opportunities to do meaningful work. It is a great office space with a convenient location.

Cons

Business ideas are kicked around in a shark tank style. The best idea wins, and the person who pitched it gets to run it. Or so they think. But really what is perceived as "the best idea" is also wrapped up in a lot of bias. This company is run by white males of a certain pedigree. Don't be fooled by the female CEO. Females with great ideas are often challenged, while males with the same idea meet zero resistance and are praised. Employees are viewed as replaceable - simply a means to an end. Business units are incentivized to care about only their own metrics. So all initiatives at the company are viewed as a zero-sum game: your win is my loss. Business units are often cannibalizing each other. Working here feels like a real-life version of The Hunger Games.
