The "Sunnylife" brand doesn't reflect the culture

Pros

- Great product - Central location - Normal office hours - Domestic travel

Cons

- The most micromanaged environment I've ever been in. If you leave your desk to go to the bathroom, management will ask you "where are you going?" -Toxic culture (catty "mean girls" vibe, firing culture, owners are money hungry and are vocal about only caring about SALES SALES SALES) -Founder quit because his vision of bringing families together with fun outdoor products was becoming so off brand by the parent company he sold it to, Outliving. Outliving only cares about selling the most stuff and as much as possible, which was the opposite of the original vision. They tripled their line with so much unsellable junk and will ship all the unwanted/unsold Australian product to the US and force the US team to sell it off. -Horrible "benefits". -Salespeople make minimum wage salary and no commission/bonuses, but will be hounded to meet their goals and fired if they don't. -When it comes time for your "yearly salary review" they always say "it's not in the budget" no matter how hard you pushed. -They do not care about their employees. They will hire whoever will accept the lowest salary because their main concerns are giving the least to get the most. They constantly say "everyone is replaceable". - The entire business structure is run on cutting corners and doing things as cheaply as possible, always causing fires that you will have to constantly be putting out. - They don't want to hear any of your ideas for new products and definitely do not want your opinions. -ZERO room for growth. The company is not growing... so you will be in your same position forever... which might not be too long since it's a sinking ship. - Management will put you down to make themselves look better to the Australian team -And no, you will not get to go to Australia. I could continue the list forever, but I don't care enough about this company to waste my time. And neither should you.

Pros

Free food, snack time, cheese and wine afternoons once a week. Offices in great location and are quite nice.

Cons

Management is a joke, it’s so badly managed. It’s a sinking ship, staff leave the company weekly. There’s a lot of internal bullying and mean girls. No one does any work. So much time and money is wasted on people just not working. No one knows how to deal with staff issues or mental health. You aren’t treated like adults, no flexible time, very strict on sick day/leave. Pay is terrible. But hey...free food!

Pros

Zero, none! If I could give Zero stars that would be a misrepresentation of how bad this place is. The LA based sales team is so much better than management thinks. And the Australian sales leader is part of the problem, they have their heads up their back sides.

Cons

Where do I start? The prior CeO that was kicked out at the beginning of 2024 was an alcoholic, sexist, racist, liar and complete tool, in the worst of ways. And the new CeO isn't much better, oh he's nice enough in first meetings, and then watch your back. This guy is a snake in sheep's clothing. I was hired to help, to bring newness and revive the US business. I started my new job, traveled to Australia to meet the AU team, and was fired. Apparently I didn't look good enough in person, I didn't "fit the culture" of Sunnylife. Apparently my hair was groomed enough, my nails we not spiffy enough, and my image didn't meet expectations. Oh and I heard from 3 different people since being terminated in my first 2 weeks that "I was too old" for the Sunnylife culture. The best part I probably dodged a bullet. The culture was terrible, very negative, micromanaged, and second guesses everything.
