Pros

From the CEO you’ll hear lots of aspirational marketing speak and cheerleading. Genuinely a fantastic guy with a good heart that gives you hope and that you'll want to champion. However…

Cons

...the day to day operations owner manipulates perceptions and steers the entire ship to his whims and fancy and a scary lack of principles. Touted values of trust, transparency, and teamwork are comically a checklist for enforcement of policies in opposition of any whisper of process or progress. Management is clueless as to how to train but somehow excels at micromanaging. Arbitrary structure, weak and/or non-existent communication means job responsibilities and titles aren't clearly defined. This makes it easy for added responsibilities and “title changes” to circumvent promotions and pay increases in almost all cases. - Sales are made by coupon. Lowest price for the win, stress and fault falls on production to deliver. I’d call it a blame cycle but it only goes down. - Not having the staff or skillsets to do the work does not prevent them from selling it. - Somehow, month after month trending to top line goals results in a bad year when it comes to bonus or raise time.

Thank you for the feedback on your experience. We agree that Mark has a fantastic heart and champion for change. We have implemented new policies, processes and people in key leadership positions to address and activate change in the specific areas you have listed, specifically in separating the Operations and HR functions.

Pros

The company is really small, so you can get to know everyone easily. Some of the clients are bigger industry names. There might still be some really smart and talented employees, but most of them have left at this point.

Cons

This company has been slowly strangled and hallowed out from the inside due to extremely heavy operational leadership command and control methods. You will not grow here, your career will be slowly choked out. There is no win-win for the company and all employees. Winning is for clients, the company, and the C-Suite only.

Pros

What I enjoyed about my time at StudioNorth were the intelligent and talented people I was fortunate enough to work with every day. I met people who cared about their work, acted with integrity and treated people with respect.

Cons

Unfortunately, I am speaking of only a handful of people. You will be closely monitored, having your arrival and departure time observed daily. If you are a woman, beware. Most of the employees subscribe to a particular faith. If you need to make a decent salary, look elsewhere, unless you like living in your parents’ basement. Integrity is a touted value, but it’s simply a marketing term. No one trusts anyone, and neither should you. The entire vibe of the place is that someone is always watching you: You are not to be trusted as a responsible, professional adult. Anger lies thinly beneath the surface for a large amount of the staff. The future of this company is not bright. The company lacks direction and will take any job that bring in money. The word “no” is not allowed to be uttered by account team. Best to look elsewhere for a more fruitful and satisfying professional opportunity.
