      Spinning down, and everyone can see it

      Hard to say what the pros are anymore!

      Where to start. Company is seeing a brain drain as many people head for the exits. Company has let go much of its leadrship team recently--and a lot of us have observed that women in particular don't last. Founders seem checked out. The current leader spins everything positive no matter what. Company blew at least one relationship at a major account and can't staff anyone theere anymore. Company has gotten a bad industry rep now. Account managers are either micromanagers or you never see them, like ever. People who hit the bench often are out of the company within a month, instead of restaffed, because account managers aren't pushed to restaff people from the bench. Plus, of course, no vacation time, no sick time.

      While we believe we have much to be proud of as an organization, we also recognize that listening carefully is imperative, or we may miss a valuable piece of feedback. We remarked recently here on Glassdoor that we mean to look inward, and we continue to do so. There have been leadership changes in the last several months, and, while we can’t comment on it specifically, we are always in support of our employees moving on in ways that best support their career needs and aspirations. While change can be difficult, decisions were made to help the firm be successful in the long run; those changes may not have been effectively communicated outside the initial announcements, which can invite incorrect assumptions. The shift in leadership has not reduced the number of women in positions of leadership and management. In fact, across our active senior leadership and consultants, we are very nearly even between men and women. We are proud about the opportunities we provide to all individuals who demonstrate the ability to serve our clients and our firm with great passion and commitment. Bench time is inevitable in a consulting business. Taking care of our employees on the bench is a first priority at Strong-Bridge for any engagement. Our resource management team actively manages all opportunities and is constantly evaluating skill sets, looking for the right match for our clients. We only look beyond the bench if our clients have a need that can’t be met. We always appreciate the feedback and welcome the discussion.

      Culture has become toxic

      - The company is transparent about the compensation model. - The HR / Ops teams are very committed to supporting the consultants and they work hard.

      Cons

      The compensation model could definitely be improved. The person who wrote the review about the "culture of the fall guy" has it right. The atmosphere of gossip, rumors, and backstabbing is a huge drawback and very prevalent, e.g. long-term consultants who have been consistently praised by their clients are suddenly blackballed and cut. Commitments are made and then taken back by people who weren't empowered to make them in the first place. Decisions / assignments are made based on incestuous lines of friendship. There is an unwilingness to invest in people or accounts. Leadership speaks and demonstrates disdain for the consultants. Short-term, shortsighted approach.

      First, thank you for your comment. While no organization likes to see a poor review of their company, we know that collecting all kinds of feedback is important for us to continually improve. Let’s begin with the good stuff. Thank you for acknowledging the strength of our HR and Operations group. We are reminded daily how exceptional these teams are; they deserve every bit of praise they receive here on Glassdoor. As for the less flattering items, every consultant’s individual experience is going to be somewhat unique. And yet, we do not intend to use that as an excuse to ignore your comments. It was established in our values early on that we would be transparent, but also supportive and encouraging. If we drift from that, we lose who we are. Growth often comes with challenges such as these, and we intend to make sure we look inward as much as possible to address if and where change and improvement need to happen.       Culture of fall guy consultants

      HR has good work history and provides support on navigating through the labyrinth of 3rd party benefit providers.

      Cons

      Consultants are expendable. I've worked for 4 major consulting firms and Strongbridge is the only one in which HR and Management openly spoke ill of long-time consultants who were part of the onboarding team, then pulled off of gigs and cut from the bench. It created a threatening environment from which consultants could be released at any time for any reason. Further, consultants are paid once a month, and the final pay is a convoluted algorithm of what's left over after the agency's "take." It's indicative of a thin cash-flow standing highly dependent on clients' payments that finally trickles down to the consultant.

We are proud of this team, and the work they do every day for our people. Also, we recognize — as many growing firms do — that we are not perfect, and there are areas for us to improve. We have made changes to consultant pay in a conscious effort to reduce the ebb and flow that can happen in consulting compensation. Under our model, consultants participate in what they earn by sharing a revenue stream. We believe this makes us very competitive in terms of compensation for our team.
