Pros

Part of the very large Enpro family of business. Probable job stability. (pre-hire opinion listed)

Cons

Stemco bought Rome tool and die company which was a very desirable place to start a career, everyone there loved their job no one ever quit because of job dissatisfaction. RT&D was a privately owned company and very family like. Stemco came in and tried to revolutionize the company as it was now a stock holder owned company. more than 85% of the employees left almost immediately! They started hiring through temporary staffing companies and would not hesitate to fire you at the drop of a hat! If you even said your muscles were sore from lifting you were fired as a liability. they would judge your work performance in as little as 2 days. Most people are not used to the lifting required here and it takes a couple of days to get over the muscle aches and be as fast as others. They have like a 32 pound lifting limit however, they do not tell you this is 3000 to 4000 times in a shift. one heck of a workout. They went through the temporary staff getting rid of them at an alarming rate (125 0ut of 150) in no time. This should be illegal to do that to temporary workers, all it does is destroy their work history. If you are lucky enough to stay any length of time you will be subjected to 7 day work weeks at 10-12 hours per day and the hours change very often because they cannot balance production with the inexperienced workers. The unemployment rate in this county is above 7.5% so you have to take what you get.

Pros

The current change in the company to go from caring only about profits to caring equally about profits and human development is exciting! The managers seem to care about the employees.

Cons

Sometimes it seems that there is a dividing line between functional groups and communication between the group then becomes difficult. This is an issue, however, that I think we are currently working on and striving to overcome.

Pros

Decent pay, and benefits. Good people in the field.

Cons

Pretty much everything. Extremely unethical executive team, consistently asked to lie to employees especially sales team. After a couple years with the company several in leadership were comfortable with stating their extremist ideas related to racism, and classism.
