Pros

Exercise while chasing carts Got to meet a lot of important people in the local community which lead to new and better job.

Cons

Annoying customers who made strange bagging requests. Lazy co-workers who were there for social hour. Managers who played favorites to opposite sex. Working late in questionable neighborhood.

Pros

Built-in raises; clean, safe work environment; good relationships with coworkers (for the most part). Usually accommodated requests off (unless there was a holiday). Management was reasonable, not much trouble communicating, gave a lot of autonomy to the checkers and CSR's, didn't pressure me to stay exactly on schedule with breaks, let me have leeway. Enjoyable experience, if a little repetitive. Perfectly good job if you're looking for a few bucks in college, but not a career.

Cons

Inconsistent hours. Sometimes I worked opening shifts (6 AM-3 PM), sometimes closed (2 PM-11 PM), sometimes 4 hours, sometimes 8 hours, most of the time Saturday and Sunday. Also, most of my night shifts were on the weekends. I struggled quite a bit with sleep deprivation while I worked here because of the inconsistency. Advancement I've also heard is difficult, but I wasn't interested anyway. Like I said, not a career, just a job.

Pros

The stability was nice. While the recession hit most of my friends and relatives hard, I was still gainfully employed.

Cons

Unless you are part of the "inner circle" that relentlessly chugs the company kool-aid, you probably aren't loving life. The company has crappy benefits and mediocre pay, but makes you feel like you should be lucky to have a job. Management is a mix of micromanagers, belittling jerks with no college education, and incompetent women who have slept their way to the top. They are generally behind the times when it comes to technology. For instance, computers were barely upgraded to Microsoft 2010 from Microsoft 2007 last year. They are also VERY behind in the times when it comes to advertising. Their television and radio commercials seem like they are from 1950. They also view social media as a passing fad instead of a powerful marketing tool.
