You’re just a number

Pros

Just like anywhere, you’ll find some really cool people to work with. But that doesn’t really make this place stand out, in my opinion.

Cons

Too many to account for. I have worked for this company for a number of years and have worked in multiple departments. Only in one place was I truly happy with my job. Management at Luke’s is by far the WORST I have ever experienced. If you like the kind of manager that pretends to care but talks to your peers behind your back negatively, this is the job for you. If you’re having a rough month meeting goals and love threatening comments about your performance, look no further. If you’re a loyal, hardworking employee who loves getting denied a chance to move up or into a new shift because it was given to a coworker who has worked there less than 6 months, then this is really the place for you!! If you like to be treated with Intregrity, Compassion, Accountability, Respect and Excellence(their core ‘values’) STAY AWAY FROM LUKES.

Pros

St. Luke's is a major employer for the state of Idaho if you really need a job. It's relatively secure if you have no plans for growth. There are always job openings.

Cons

St. Luke's HR rules and regulations are contradicting. For example, if you are ill and contagious then you are REQUIRED to stay home however, you will still get marked for an unexcused absence. You can only get 6 unexcused absences in a rolling calendar year without getting a written warning. If you must leave work for any reason, that is unexpected, it will count as a full unexcused day or a half unexcused day no matter the circumstance. If you get 9 unexcused occurrences in a rolling calendar year, you will get fired. HR works for the organization not for the employees. The organization does not care about it's employees in the same manner that they require their employees to care for patients. The organization only cares about making money. They have laid off hundreds of loyal employees and will lay off more due to their expensive expansions. They have also limited supply budgets, are not giving promotions, and are overworking employees to burnout or resignation. Turnover is very high. Management works for the organization and not for the employees. Management is not to be trusted.

Don't work here

Pros

Coworkers can be nice, work can be rewarding and fun as long as you have a good supervisor.

Cons

Where to start? Workers are kept in the dark about performances often thinking that they are doing great when in fact they are making mistakes nobody talks about. On the job training should last longer but they stop caring after a while. Young guys on the totem get blamed for mistakes they didn't make. Management makes promises they don't intend to keep so you don't complain. Lock down your email as soon as you are let go severing all contacts you may have. Insurance is a joke and they make you pay for it while paying you pennies for a heavy work load. They keep ammunition to fire you from mistakes you made when you had worked there less than a month. I wish I could say my experience was the only one but St. Luke's fires people just because they don't like someone all the time. I know of at least 5 others though I am sure that there are far more. I would seriously suggest not working here.
