Pros

Lots of free food, break rooms are nice and extravagant.

Cons

Way to many mangers that have no idea what they are doing but have been with the company for 20 years they are entitled to their role. Blatant racism, belittlement and discrimination everyday. invented " roles" for some members of the company just so they can accumulate more money/shares just for being with the company for 20+ years, the receptionist makes more then most the trade workers here since she is an "manager". many employees aren't given basic instructions or tools to do their jobs everyday. Garbage mentor program. A bigger political mess than the current 2016 presidential election in the states.

Pros

-Good if you are the extroverted car salesman type personality. -Profit sharing and benefits can be good

Cons

Very political and cliquey environment. This is a sales focused company, so like-ability (bro'ing with the other sales guys) is more valued than competency or hard work. There is a cult sort of feel within the company with seniors constantly reminding everyone how great the company is. Profit sharing is nice, but just smoke and mirrors. Professional career development is limited as you are going to be specialized only in the company's particular product segment in the market. For the young professional, it's better to put in your time at an EPC or fabricator and get some real experience that will better serve you in your career long term.

Pros

Excellent company if you like working for sociopathic management who mismanaged their ERP transition due to incompetence. They requested some employees to work over the weekend to only then fire them the next week. They continue to take back shares of existing employees to transfer the wealth to the ever bloating upper and middle management. Do no expect to get shares and anything like previous employees compensation if you do get the chance to buy some. Spartans KPI's are best described as anything that shows you have no morals as that is a managerial requirement. Their transition to SAP for their ERP system was so terrible they have yet to implement their long term goal of outsourcing quote and technical specifications to third world countries just like their business partner emerson. Internal term for application specialist is quote donkey. Senior management is nowhere to be found outside of quarterly presentations. They claim to have a flat corporate structure which is true on paper but the reality is that it is extremely hierarchical where there is no communication or awareness by management of any of the pressing issues facing employees. This is all by design since who wants to see the negative repercussions of one's own actions. Half of the employees at lower levels are fantastic, and the other half are trying to drown everyone else to get a leg up. You can guess who gets promoted and who doesn't. Business units do not cooperate. There is a hot potato mentality about "owning quotes", and often there are quotes with mixed products requiring teamwork. Senior management spends thousands of dollars on wine in a single meal and yet for a "team building event" they payout a single drink and do not even mention this to anyone and batman their way out. There are only 2 age groups of employees, senior and junior. They hire new grads that don't know what a sane work environment and hours is. There is no opportunity for advancement unless your in the sociopathic in group. Mandatory lunch and learns with terrible cheap food from the cafeteria for low level employees. Aka forced overtime. While at the same time management orders in delivery from elsewhere at a much higher cost. When you calculate out the days off taking into account you work a 9hr day, the flex days, vacation and fixed days off it amounts to 7 days off in reality because all the other time is really just earned time off from the extra 1hr per day working.

Cons

Advice from edmonton account manager is that it is required of females at spartan to dress sexy in order to advance within the company. There was no reprimand by management or hr for this. the female employee has since quit.
