Very bad place

Pros

Sometimes chill managers and co-workers

Cons

Very unprofessional, managers are toxic and there is definitely some illegal stuff going on at my location. Shift leads would ask you to re-use styrofoam cups to save money and they didn't want you cleaning the ice cream machine after every use, causing cross-contamination. You get your own individual cash registers and only the managers are allowed to count them at the end of every shift, making you stay longer and making you pay back anything short. One of the managers would steal tips from newbies by scanning their card but making the newbie take out the order and would do it often. Would also be rude and yell at the teenage girl workers but be totally chill with other older men. You will get called constantly when off work and called in all the time. One time they called me in, then cancelled, then called me in again. You will get sent home the millisecond it's remotely slow. If you're on drive-thru, you will not get any help from coworkers in a huge rush. They're also crazy stingy, you can't get any sort of free food even if you worked 12 hours. The most you get is a free small cup you have to reuse and you get %50 only if you get a full meal combo. You have to pay full price for any ice cream or lemonade. They don't care about their workers and the manager who harasses girls is best buds with the GM, so they don't care. It's also just incredibly stressful working there, as you have to do drive-thru, drive-in, and inside the store orders. The workers were all miserable because of how awful it is.

Pros

I absolutely adored my regular customers. Our staff was like a family inside our store. Schedules were followed and our store manager went above and beyond to take care of all he could despite shortcomings over his head. He stayed many hours after we closed fixing things such as the water heater because we needed it to operate the store and could not get help from higher management.

Cons

Owner was very active inside his stores when I started. I liked that he was not above jumping in and helping make food or get orders out. He would show up and visit on Christmas Eve while we were working and seemed to genuinely care about his workers..... until he didn't. About 4-5 years ago, he slowly stopped coming around. He went from very involved to never seen. As time went by, things slowly started turning from great to good to okay to bad to worse. The 2 area managers could not be bothered to attend our store. We were made to stretch ourselves thin and operate fully with only 2-3 people (manager included) in the store on a constant basis, despite us being one of their busiest stores. The manager's 13 yr old son was shot and flight lifted to children's and the area manager for our store basically told us it wasn't her problem to help out while he was worrying about his child's life. It was same when the store manager's mom was in hospital dying and being taken off of life support. He left work, went and said his goodbyes and returned to work, no bereavement time. Finally, we were given oppurtunities for bonuses based on performance each month for drive thru and stall times, scores of mystery shops, # of complaints, and keeping labor costs under a set percentage. We also could receive a bonus if we passed our audits that were done randomly twice a year. We scored a 98 on the audit (problems with the building beyond our control and known to higher management were only things counted off) and was due our monthly bonus and when we asked about them after checks came out, we were told our bonuses weren't being given due to our stores money going to pay other stores that couldn't cover their own costs. After this continued to build, the people we did have in the store were all fed up, overworked and stressed and beyond tired of getting yelled at by customers while doing everything we could to keep going. 11 out of 13 employees quit on the same day. The 2 left were a 15 yr old and 17 yr old because they weren't sure if they would be able to find another job as easily due to age and school.

Pros

It was a good start for a job. Flexible hours and able to take time off if I asked far in advance.

Cons

Rude managers. No extra pay when you become a trainer.

Pros

Co-workers were great and Sonic has some unique positions for a variety of people. Can also make tips if car-hopping in the right time/location!

Cons

Leadership was out of touch (pay, work/life balance etc.), but it all boils down to who your immediate managers/boss(es) are --like most fast-food locations.

Pros

Pretty fun job. Flexible hours if you are in high school. Co workers usually get along

Cons

Very likely to be worked overtime. It is a stressful job during busy hours. The pay is low. Not much upward mobility past manager.

It was decent

Pros

You get tips at times.

Cons

It was an ok experience. I wouldn't do it again because the management was poor. Other employees didn't do their job so you had to pick up their slack. The customer traffic was HORRIBLE over the summer. Also, the regional manager was really weird.
