The voice of the employees needs to be heard more clearly. As employees we want to grow, be appreciated, and work hard for our company. We want opportunities for internal growth and advancement. I would like my manager to sit down with me and do some career path planning. I like being an Engineer, but don't want to be one forever. I don't want to find out about a growth opportunity by looking at a website. I want my manager to let all their employees know of a potential opening. I want the company to believe in me, as much as I believe in it. I want to know that I'm appreciated. This isn't just with a "job well done" or the occasional "atta-boy", it's about truly valuing me as an employee in a demonstrable way. Send me to a class, let me attend a tradeshow, invest in me and let me represent our company. Treat me like an adult, like a competent professional that you pay me to be. Empower me to do my job. A an employee who cares, I want to work hard for our company. Solutionz is pushing to create a culture where we are only trusted to work from the office. We design, engineer, and sell $1m projects for a living, but I can't be trusted to be productive from home one day a week? This sends a clear message to employees that we aren't trusted and that we are not appreciated. I don't believe that this is the message Solutionz wants to convey, but it's happening. When I work from home I'm 2x as productive as in the office. My distractions are minimal and my output is high. I start early and finish late, and I don't have to contend with the commute. This is a win for me and for the company. Our competition, who are recruiting very heavily right now, are offering this simple benefit and it's make us good employees consider the alternative.
