Pros

The only positive about this company is that they pay commissions.

Cons

This company has no direction and the people at the top are completely lost at sea. The micromanagement is the worst part. If you ask your direct supervisor a question then they have to talk to four other people before they can give you the simplest answer. Middle management is literally just there so that upper management doesn't have to talk to the workers. They can't answer any questions, make any decisions, or do anything helpful without having to go to their bosses to make sure everything is okay. They knowingly use software and processes that are not efficient, effective, or even up to date. The sales software they use is meant for another industry entirely and is so old that you can't update your computers Java because the 15+ year old software won't work. The middle management makes jokes about how awful their processes and systems are but they do nothing to affect change. The company has had 3 Sales Directors in 3 years and the new CEO is just interested in bringing in all of his cronies from the last place he worked.

Pros

Challenging and fun work with a bunch of great people. The job is never the same thing twice. it is a rapidly changing environment with many layers and the all have to work in unison of the job gets missed. we have a good leader in the office in Eric Seefeltd. he know what he is doing and knows how to get all of his people pulling in one direction for the betterment of all. he sometimes get stressed but the tension leave quickly and we all feed off his positive energy. if it was not for him being there, the SSF office would not function like it does. we are a full time 8 man crew brining in millions in revenue with a work load that would drown most other offices. lets just say that the crew world go through fire for the green bay packers fan. ( although we all turn on him on football nights.)

Cons

There are some cons with smartsource. I love where I work but these cons are major and need to be addressed. 1. No recognition for the techs for executing a successful show. We are the first to get blamed when the sales person leaves off a piece of equipment that did not come over or the send an order that is like 6 pages and we have to turn it over in hours. when it goes right, We hear that the sales person is getting the bonus money and the praises , while the guys who made it happen are being yelled at for nor getting it done fast enough. Or thepromise the client that a piece of equipment is wireless wen their is not such way or device to do that. the same standards of excellence that is imposed on the techs should go double for sales. they need to know what they have and how to sell it to the client and give the field the time to do it right. 2. a clear path for advancement and how to work on that path. It fells like the path is not even there. Myself for example , I would like to go towards project management but I have not even been given a way to advance in the company. I would like to do more traveling to bi shows and yet have no way of knowing how to be part that. It is demoralizing and upsetting. especially when I live in a very expensive state like California where the cost of rent can be as high as a monthly paycheck 3. the pay. We are highly skilled techs and yet , at times (not eric and I know this is out of his control) we are treated no better than burger flipper at the local choke and puke. When you look at what we do in total, just one part of our job would have us being paid far more than the techs are being compensated for. A straight computer imager for example is paid the same as the techs smartsource. The truck driver is paid on average $3 to $4 more an hour, and I am not going to go into the boothe hangers that hang our equipment that are paid far more. It is upsetting when we are on site with a guy who looks like he woke up nursing a bottle of jack bragging about the boat he just purchased. then you have to hang everything because he has no idea what is he is doing.

Pros

Great work-life balance Upper Management has been making positive changes to benefit the employees such as implementing the 401(k) match. They also keep employees informed on the direction they are looking to take the company in with quarterly company meetings. They have company surveys and really address any questions or concerns that many employees have. I have worked under a couple of managers here and they are all wonderful. Everyone is very helpful and works as a team. They are willing to answer questions and help you succeed. I LOVE my coworkers! Even though there are multiple branches all over the country, I was able to establish professional relationships with many people because mostly everyone is so friendly and truly works as one team.

Cons

Sometimes job duties will be given to you as "temporary" due to turnover in your department but become permanent without proper discussion and recognition.

Pros

Every day is something new

Cons

Working environment is treated like the Old West where Management scolds you for pointing something out that won't work and you're willing to fix it, but can't because it was an order that was not taken seriously due to the short handedness for prep and lack of efforts placed to make up for management who are unwilling to help by talking with sales so you have to do the job for them and speak with Sales. While attempting to be productive Sales is now yelling at you for pointing something wrong and now you're dealing with anger from management, sales, and for some reason all of this reaches regional management and YOU look bad. Oh, let's not forget how the customer is upset because now they don't have what they requested for their event, which is exactly what you pointed out to sales.
