Pros
Company is small enough where everyone knows everyone and is on a first name basis, so you don't feel like a number. Good benefits package, nice people. Yet for how small it is, the capabilities they provide - specifically in the 3D modelling and visualization realm - are at the forefront and it is something pretty cool to be a part of and become knowledgeable on. There is a bit of a learning curve early on due to proprietary software, filetypes, processes etc and as a result newer employees may be tasked with smaller items utilizing said processes so as to help them become proficient with all of the workflows as well as potential obstacles/limitations. With such a small team it is essential that every member be as well-versed and self-sufficient as possible. But once you have shown the customer and leadership that you are proficient, reliable and motivated to take the initiative, there is great potential for advancement both professionally on the "corporate" side and on the "customer" side in terms of getting tasked with higher visibility, or more important projects. Customer site leadership is very "big boy/girl rules", where as long as you're professional, consistent and reliable, you will be trusted to accomplish tasks with minimal oversight. Things are generally flexible and accommodating to personal needs without micro-managing assuming you remain on-task and hold yourself accountable for meeting deadlines, quality of work etc for your assigned tasks. Getting PTO, sick leave, flexing hours for appointments etc is almost never an issue as long as sufficient notification is given, it doesn't negatively impact our support to the customer and it is not abused (flex time and sick leave).
Cons
There are some seemingly menial tasks that will be necessary along the way in terms of acquiring, processing and managing data. But that is unfortunately just the nature of the beast in this line of work due to our customers needs. It is also important that you are self-motivated - if you are type of person that wants/needs constant guidance and direction or are expecting it to always be exciting and high speed on its own, it may not be for you as with such a small team, we wear multiple hats to include the IT, training and SME aspects in addition to the engineering/analytical aspects. Finally, travel can be heavy at times which may or may not be an issue depending on the person.
