Pros

There is nothing good about this school.

Cons

This school is a complete joke. The pay is extremely low for a qualified US teacher. The staff completely ignore you and no one cares. The lessons are all incorrect and have no structure or logical. It is the worse school, I have ever seen! Students beware of this school! you are wasting your time and money!

Pros

You can choose your own hours, Structured lesson plans on varied subjects available for teachers to use. Easy and prompt payment into Paypal account every 14 days. One to one lessons with regular students the norm.

Cons

The Tech department have limited control over the Vimbox platform and software. If it is not a sound or camera problem, they can't help you! 6 weeks ago, they introduced Group lessons with the promise of $30 per 100 minute lesson. I conducted 3 but after horrendous technical issues, I didn't agree to do anymore! This was weeks ago and I am still awaiting payment for the lessons I conducted! They promise a rise in hourly rate from 10 to 12$ per hour when teachers complete all training videos plus tests (19 in all!) I NEVER got that raise! Overall, I found the experience a bit disheartening, especially as rewards for hard work were promised but NEVER delivered. In my case anyways.

Pros

Vimbox platform which they use is well-structured and user-friendly.

Cons

I was recruited by Skyeng in Moscow to work for the Greek department. The recruitment and training procedure was smooth. The conduct was highly professional and my overall impression was positive. All this changed dramatically when I started working for the Greek department. Although I had a Letter of Offer which stated that my rate would be $10 per teaching hour (50min.) I was paid only 5 euros. There was no compensation at all if the student was absent, although the lesson had been confirmed earlier. 2 out of 3 students would not show up for class so you ended up wasting your time for nothing. Teachers were constantly devaluated. There was no support but authoritarian and oppressive attitudes. No respect for your private life as they would send you skype messages at any hour even on public holidays. The teachers were called to give explanations if the student gave less than 4 (out of 5) stars in a lesson although the rating did not evaluate the teaching itself only but it could be the material, technical problems or even clicked by mistake. Students were few and not equitably allocated among teachers. Communication with the administrator in Russia and the call center in Athens was extremely difficult and led to coninuous misunderstandings due to their poor English.
