Pros

The drone industry is booming right now and skycatch has a good opportunity and a slight edge some other start ups in terms of funding, business and the size of the company. The engineers at skycatch are some of the most passionate you can find. Like most small companies, there aren't big processes or very much business overhead.

Cons

The management team seems to think the the company image is more important than actual working products. Many of the features that are showcased on their videos are not currently working and actually maybe years away. Yet potential employees maybe led to believe that they are. An investor may get a "demo" that just shows the easiest parts that are implemented. Everything from the blogs, tweets and talks are designed to create this illusion. You don't get the full scoop until you start working there and realize their IP is not as advanced as you first thought. Employee satisfaction is not an item on this company's list. Working for skycatch is THE award. As a result, the management constantly pushes for late night and weekend work. Crunch time schedules work on a short duration but really burn out employees. Most employees that are hired are not happy with this side of skycatch but deal with it until their equity is vested. This sort of culture trickles down from the top of skycatch. The management isn't very caring for individual situations of the employee and in most cases just very disrespectful.

Pros

The only good thing about working at Skycatch was the free Chobani. The total lack of direction and constant shifts in strategy made it acceptable to accomplish nothing.

Cons

There were a few things that really stood out: Trying to remember what lies we were telling clients so that we did not look foolish. Knowing that everything we were working on was a complete waste of time because the decision makers did not know anything about construction, survey, drones or data.

Thank you for the note. We don’t pretend to be construction or surveying experts. As much as we love the construction space our clients come to us for capture automation, data processing and most importantly, our ease of use. Those are the key areas of focus and purpose the company was founded in the first place, so we’ve been actively working towards making that a lot more clear. I'm not aware of lies, so I can’t really speak to that. If someone did lie it wasn’t part of our strategy or directed by me or the leadership team. I hope the experience you acquired at Skycatch was more valuable than eating our free snacks and you were able to secure a great opportunity. CS

Not a lot of substance...

Pros

In this day and age, companies and PR are very receptive to drones and it's cool to be a part of that trend. There were good office perks (nice equipment, free food, occasional activities)

Cons

There was a lot over promising to clients and investors. Leadership was very reactive to feedback and not capable of seeing the massive disconnect between their vision and where the product was. Lots of pivots on product due to lack of focus. Debilitating to engineers and sales... Culture of fear. That was the worst.
