Pros
For the developer that can pretty much figure out what they need to know and have to do, with only a light touch from management and traders, Simplex is an ideal environment. You are afforded equal parts latitude and responsibility in how you solve problems with code. There are practically no meetings, save for occasional informal, impromptu design gatherings. We use current technologies and best practices decided more or less by consensus, and no formal methodolgies. The high retention rate speaks volumes about the quality of the people and environment.
Cons
There is a large existing code base--and there is some inertia associated with that--but there is enough new development opportunity on top of it to make your mark.
