Corporate is clueless

Pros

The insurance is better than some, but not great.

Cons

Where do I start? Signature took over the building back in 2013, and for a while it seemed it would be tolerable, but then the permanent management team took over and it all went to hell. Management doesn't give a damn about their employees, they are merely human capital for them to manage. If you quit, oh well, they'll find someone else to fill the position. People have been fired for daring to call corporate to complain about their incompetence, residents can call BS complaints on the staff and they are automatically terminated without even investigating. Staff have been forced to come in to work with high fevers and communicable illnesses, and when they try to call in they are forced to choose between not infecting everyone in the building, or quitting. Of course, if you're part of the clique, you can get away with whatever you want, as long as you hang out with them and party with them after hours... everyone else is just there and you get no kudos, no praise, no job well done, nothing but signs all over the place with "mandatory", "you are required", "disciplinary action up to and including termination", etc. Either corporate is aware of how this place is operated, and they agree, which makes them hypocrites, or they have no idea that this is going on, which makes them inattentive and incompetent. The morale of the rank and file employees is pretty much nonexistent, and anyone who has the opportunity is leaving, some even before they have other jobs to go to. It's that bad.

Profits over people

Pros

In spite of the oppressive corporate machine, you can find good people to work with and make connections with staff and elders.

Cons

Not only has the management changed 6+ times in the last year, but they seem to have a talent for hiring and promoting the most under qualified, obnoxious, and lousiest managers they can find. The entire staff becomes demoralized by the dehumanizing attitudes of their supervisors. Also, this company is the WORST I have ever seen for putting profits above people. Absolutely bare bones staffing that works their employees to the breaking point, extreme budget cuts that have the residents going without basic care items such as incontinence cleansing wipes, and purposely short ordering supplies to save money. Regularly run out of garbage bags, paper towels, certain wound care dressings, nutritional supplemental shakes that are ordered by the doctor, etc. There has been more than one weekend when staff has bought toilet paper, straws, cups, coffee, soap, and razors for the residents. Nevermind having to bring in your own toilet paper. They charge employees $3 a meal for some of the worst school cafeteria reject food, but if you are stuck working 16 hours unexpectedly, it might be your only option. Budget cuts to the dietary program allow for each resident to have less than $5 a day spent on their food. Consequently people that pay over $7000 a month to live in their facilities are told that they can't have an 8 Oz off brand soda pop because it's a "luxury". Snacks, on the chance that they were bought that week, consist of off brand peanut butter crackers and stale potato chips thrown into sandwich baggies. The food served at meals has become so repulsive that between the unappetizing smell, appearance, and taste, many elders refuse to eat it. They either go without, begging for something else, or if it's available they might be able to get a sandwich. Some people are now living on cheap, gray processed turkey on white bread for lunch and dinner every day. It is horrifying. I'm leaving as soon as I find another job.

Pros

Excellent company with great programs, love the spiritual program with a Chaplain in each facility, at a corporate level, they really seem to embody quality of care of the WHOLE person. There are many quality people in top leadership positions.

Cons

one very awful leader in a very key role, has been there quite awhile and the top leadership KNOWS how this person acts, and appears to endorse and support the type of behavior this person exhibits. This one person has caused many people in key roles to leave the company, costing the company in turnover and progress towards their goals.
