Low pay. Barely enough to make bills. The cap is $12.75/hr and that's not nearly enough for what you go through daily. People call to complain about any and everything. They'll describe their bowel movement to you if they think the food made them sick. They curse you out, make racists comment, and just talk to you like you're nothing. Sertec's policy? You must always remain friendly despite the bs. If you get angry, you're written up.
You'll suffer depression and anxiety. You'll be guilted into working OT. You'll hate your coworkers. The ones who get ahead are tattle tales and guess who they have their eye on... You. They'll tell ANYTHING to make themselves look better and get that promotion to a big $13 an hour.
The breaks are only 10 mins, lunch is 30. A few minutes more and you have to have meetings with supervisors. New hires work holidays. They may say you won't but they base this on who puts in the application first. New hires would be last. Health insurance is an HMO and its terrible. No dental. No vision. No holiday party. No sick days. Only five holidays off with pay. Vacation is a joke. It doesn't roll over and you have to work like 5 years for 40 hours.
Supervisors are okay mostly but the call center manager is not. She only cares about making sure the calls are taken. Nothing else. Not understanding or friendly. No education whatsoever. She does not know labor laws. She dropped out of community college. Have a complaint about her? Great. Email her boss. You'll never get a response. There's a call center side of the office and an administrative side of the office. No one on the administrative side cares about anyone in the call center. Some even refuse to say hello when you pass them in the halls. Like they're better than you. And you start to feel that way. Ashamed and embarrassed at what you now have to do to earn this minuscule little pay check.
