Pros

Great place to get experience, good to start or transition careers. Friendly, wicked smart colleagues, flexible work environment. In person, hybrid and remote options, good benefits. Product has a good reputation.

Cons

Instability. Structure, pay and procedures change all the time without notice or agreement. Company says it’s part of a culture of constant change but it’s way beyond product innovation, it’s a continuous rushed pace that leads to a very messy operation. Everyone looks ultra busy while spitting out meaningless metrics, moving too fast to show the incompetence. Uneven workloads/poor pay. Some people are quiet quitting or doing side gigs while others work much harder or feel pressured to take on extra work. Pay isn’t always fair across departments. Pay in the US is below average, not at all competitive. Poor career development options. They rarely promote internally so not only there’s hidden low morale, you also end up with outside hires who are decision makers/managers with little knowledge of product and processes. Weak HR. HR evaluations have no purpose. HR sends all employee issues back to management, there are no checks and balances between HR and leadership, so leadership can make or break a department. And aside from a few exceptions, most of leadership is also weak, maybe due to low pay. Wasteful culture. Money is wasted due to lack of collaboration and poor communication. Also money wasted with people being paid to do busy work or nonsense that brings no value to the company or the customers.

Dear Sender, Thank you for your review. Let’s clear a few things up to make sure everyone’s on the same page. First off, about the changes: Our company’s growing fast, so some adjustments are inevitable. We get that it might not suit everyone, but it’s an integral part of our culture around here. Keeping everyone in the loop is key, so thanks for sharing your thoughts. We’ll definitely take your suggestion on board to keep things transparent company-wide. Next up, payments: We’re always keeping an eye on the job market and tweaking pay rates as needed. And as for career opportunities: Yeah, we’ve got lots of room for growth internally, but we’re also open to fresh faces with outside experience. This year, we introduced new company-wide career frameworks, a testament to the hard work of our HR team. They’re not just about gathering feedback; they’re all about helping you grow and make the most of your time here. Your honest feedback means a lot, no matter what it’s about. Wishing you nothing but the best in your future endeavors. Yours, the Semrush Team

Pros

SEO experience, access to SEO tools, refurbished employee laptops, unlimited PTO

Cons

Your monthly quota resets every month. You can go from being a top performer rock star one month to being put on a Performance Plan the next. People have been quickly and consistently getting fired since I started working at SEMrush 2 years ago. Worrying if you’ll still have your job every month is not healthy. This place has horribly unrealistic expectations of its salespeople. It’s terrible on mental health and everyone seems stressed out and miserable. It can also take a long time to credit on a sale you made to get approved (merges) so half the time you don’t even know at the end of the month if you’ve hit your quota or not. Then when you do it doesn’t even matter or last long. As you go straight back to zero the next month. Salesforce & Slack are a mess.

Dear Colleague, Thank you for the feedback. Compensation plans may change, and we communicate clearly that it might happen quarterly. Truly, working in Sales is always about plans, reaching goals, and KPIs. It could be stressful, but we care about people and do our best to reduce these stress factors by providing clear expectations, being open about possible changes, and so on. We’re saddened you were disappointed by your experience with us. Yours, the Semrush Team

Pros

- Exceptional colleagues leading to valuable friendships. - Significant learning and development opportunities before encountering change exhaustion.

Cons

Diving into the world of Semrush lately feels like navigating through a storm without a compass. The vibe has shifted dramatically, and if you take a peek at Glassdoor or just chat around internally, you'll see a sea of negative reviews. It's pretty telling that after the leadership caught wind of this, there suddenly appeared a flood of glowing reviews. Seems like they're trying to paint over the cracks, but it's not fooling anyone. With the job market being as tight as it is, it's no wonder that practically everyone's on the lookout for a new gig. But, finding something better is turning out to be a real headache, which just adds to the frustration of being stuck in a place that's lost its shine. For those just joining, expect to hit the ground stumbling. The system's a mess, communication's all over the place, and figuring out how to succeed feels like solving a puzzle with half the pieces missing. And let's not even get started on the turnover at the top—sales leaders are in and out so fast it'll make your head spin. Everyone's running on empty. Commissions are a guessing game, your accounts might as well have a revolving door, and don't get me started on segmentation—it's a joke. They're pushing us to sell bundles that make no sense for our clients, cooked up by folks who clearly don't get the front line. Speaking up feels like talking to a wall, and the 'or else' attitude isn't exactly motivating. The lack of clear direction, support, or even a sense of stability makes it feel like we're all just treading water, waiting for the next wave to hit. Rumor has it more layoffs are on the horizon, and with the CEO questioning the need for a sales team at all, it's like the writing's on the wall. So, if you're thinking of jumping ship to Semrush, maybe think again. If you're in a tight spot, sure, it might do for now—but keep that resume polished and your options open. From the looks of it, settling in for the long haul here isn't just risky; it's a leap into the unknown with no safety net.

Dear Сolleague, Thank you for the feedback and for bringing to light the aspects that have shaped your experience with Semrush. Let us also provide our vision of the current situation: Over the past six months, we've witnessed a remarkable average performance across all segments in the US, exceeding 100%. It means the plans and goals are achievable and realistic. Furthermore, in our efforts to streamline processes and foster clearer communication, we update our "Sales Rules" document annually. This resource provides detailed insights about our expectations and approaches for different cases. Additionally, it's important to note that we hold a transparent vision and understanding of the Sales organization's strategy for the next years. We’re sorry if these future plans haven't aligned with your expectations. Your concerns are valid, as we recognize that constant changes can be unsettling for employees. Nonetheless, we believe they are necessary for our future success and development. Thank you for your understanding. Yours, the Semrush Team
