Pros

If you can do your job well you are not micromanaged at all. Coworkers are great. I rarely work more than 40 hours a week and remain a top tier earner. I had no prior sales experience or insurance experience and the managers took a chance on me and I'm forever grateful. It's a fun job and I love helping seniors and you don't feel slimy selling insurance to them. If you are willing to learn and are good with people you'll do great.

Cons

For all the 1 star reviews on here... What did you expect them to do? Send you a free laptop, train you, and then you're just allowed to sit there and collect base pay and receive free healthcare for nothing? If you doubt yourself there's a great chance you'll be one of the ones that succeed at this. It was all of the arrogant "know it alls" from training that couldn't hack it.

Pros

Work from home, equipment is supplied, fun people to work with, the trainers seem like really nice people

Cons

The training is too short for new agents. If you don't hit goal the first 2 months they fire you. No seriously they let you go, it's very gladiator style. The lead pool depends on your rank. Level 1, and 2 have higher quality leads. Level 3, and aip leads are terrible. Selectquote doesn't cater to your style as an agent, they expect you to fit a mold even if it's not in your skillset. The pay went from 18 an hour then to 15 and a day before training they dropped it to 13.50 with the promise the commission would make up for it. the commission doesn't make up for it because they constantly change the commission structure and QA dings you for everything. I've constantly lost over 250 bucks per check because I didn't get an email for someone who's a senior who doesn't have an email. I was excited to start at selectquote but I'm currently planning my exit. The leads are bad if you're a lower agent who doesn't have the same experience as other agents and turn over is high. Also the work to home life ratio is bad. They expect you to work 11 hours during the weekday and additional weekend hours just to hit goal. No lie I can't work that much as a family guy. If you can handle this type of nonstop hustle go for it but im a human and I need time with my family. I'd suggest you steer clear of selectquote and find more honest company to work with

Pros

If you'd like an honest look at what it's like working for this company I suggest taking a look at the reviews from March 12th and January 14th of 2019. You'll notice a company that averages less than 5 reviews a MONTH somehow managed to get 28 in a SINGLE DAY on March 12th and 14 on January 14th. Now that's pretty unusual in itself, but what's really odd is that out of these 42 reviews: 37 are glowing 5-star reviews, the remaining 5 are glowing 4-star reviews. That has to be a record. This is the epitome of working at Selectquote. I've worked here for a very long time and I can honestly say that years ago it was the best job I've ever had, the best company I've ever worked for, and I would have recommended it to anyone. Sadly, that company no longer seems to exist. In the last few years things have become steadily worse, until they seem to be at their lowest point yet. The top phrase I now hear among co-workers is "sick and tired". They are sick and tired of being asked to meet goals that simply aren't achievable, sick and tired of having to lower the quality of their work further and further to meet these goals, sick and tired of the company valuing "metrics" far above their employees well being. Metrics are God at SelectQuote. In my experience, if you work here: You will be asked to do things that make you ethically uncomfortable (at best) in the name of meeting your numbers. You will sacrifice the quality of your work for quantity, because you'll have to in order to meet those numbers. You won't provide customers the services they pay you for, because you won’t be able to and still meet those numbers. The company has become a bad sitcom parody of the profit-loving, soul-crushing, employee-exploiting corporation. I would never allow them to handle my insurance. From what I have experienced, egregious errors and incompetence seem to run rampant behind the scenes. I’ve been horrified at the mistakes I’ve personally seen, and the consequences our customers have had to suffer because of them.

Cons

You do not want to work for a company that would create dozens upon dozens of fake reviews to offset the overwhelming number of honest negative reviews, so that they can trick you into working for them. That type of company couldn’t make it more obvious how little respect they have for you than to try and deceive you before you even become their employee.

Thank you for sharing your opinion. We are sorry if this might disappoint you but the reviews here are not fake; they are from former and current employees like you. In every sales environment, there is almost always a quota or goal to be met and we have managers who are always ready to lend a helping hand to those who are struggling to meet their goals. The insurance industry that we are in is highly regulated. We have quality assurance procedures to which we adhere. We also have regular and systematic audits that are service, product and compliance related. If there is an error, we address and rectify it accordingly. We are always open to a dialogue so if you have any more feedback, please step forward and talk with a manager or our HR personnel.
