Pros

Thorough and extensive training for those without relevant experience.

Cons

High emotional and professional demand. High flexibility demanded by employer, little to no flexibility given in return. Advertised as full time but hours required to qualify for health insurance are hardly reachable. High commute time, little to no heads up on massive schedule changes. High turnover rate. Expect long commutes. They literally teach you how to avoid burn out, as in they are fully expecting you to burn out quick.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We're glad you found our training helpful. Building a strong foundation and continued learning is something we value. We meet clients and families where they are and don't require them to fit our schedule or commute to our offices. That means that while much of our schedule is routine and predictable, supporting children and families in crisis does require flexibility. In return, we’re offer one of the most competitive salary and benefits packages in the field. We also provided ongoing training and weekly case coaching. Our goal is to help team members build lasting careers in children’s mental health, and that includes open conversations about burnout. We believe that recognizing and preparing for it is a vital part of long-term success.

Pros

I often have fun playing games, teaching students new things (whether it be academic or social/emotional skills), and working on developing new ways to reach students. Good compensation.

Cons

It's difficult for me to work as an on call staff as I tend to get really anxious if I don't know if I will be working the next day. No benefits for part-time staff and sick leave accrues really slowly (I get one hour every two weeks). Physically demanding job.

Hi and thank you for sharing your experience as a Per Diem Behavior Specialist! The flexibility of the schedule is big upside to being a Per Diem Behavior Specialists--along with the same support, coaching, and training as all of our Behavior Specialists. In fact, I suggest reaching out to your coach and discussing the parts of the position that are difficult so we can better support you! Thank you again for the review!
