Pros

Casual and open work culture. I had some great colleagues to work with.

Cons

While on the job, I wasn't given a chance to formally educate on digital marketing certifications as promised when I was being interviewed and hired. I was simply handed over a high net worth client to manage, because the company had no other AM to turn to when the previous account manager resigned, although it was very clear that client demanded an expert AM skills. Having said that I learned a lot about account management on the job and not with formal training that was promised at the time of the interview. I was given the job with a time frame of 3 months to acquire knowledge and shadow other AMs, this timeframe never stood true for me. This company also hires entry level or junior staff who are made to work with seasoned corporate & experienced AMs, hence more than often there is work ethic clash due to the difference in work culture. Junior or entry level staff are promoted within 3 - 6 months as directors or managers - makes me rethink on the term 'promotion'.

Thank you for your review. I apologize that your experience was less than ideal. This is definitely not what we strive for as an organization. With each such situation, we learn and adapt our approaches. As such, we will incorporate your feedback into our processes, and in fact, have already made great strides to ensure that such a situation cannot occur again.

Pros

Great colleagues, casual work environment

Cons

The account managers make promises to clients that cannot be kept because they do not understand the product that they are selling. They just throw any thing out there and promise clients unrealistic timelines and scenarios. Which leads to every other team having no work life balance. You are told that you have to have a certain amount of revenue that you work on. So it doesn't matter how many projects you have or how much time those take if you don't meet their expected revenue amounts.

At SEP, we are committed to continuously improving the digital marketing results and customer experience for every client we partner with. This cannot be achieved without the collaboration and teamwork of all SEPers including our Account Management and Operations staff. And while we continue to look for ways to better work together to WOW our clients, the ongoing feedback we receive from staff across SEP and our business results confirm we are able to work effectively to deliver results while maintaining a healthy work life balance. It is unfortunate this was not your perspective in the brief time you worked with our SEP team but we do wish you success in your future endeavours.

Pros

- Great people culture. - Hot industry to work in. - Accessible via GO Train and not far from Hwy 401 exit (if coming from the East).

Cons

- Staff with insights/expertise are often not listened to. - Top down communication is poor, oftentimes the right arm of the company doesn't know about change on the left arm. - Senior leadership doesn't put resources into upskilling and training their already stressed staff (particularly front-line account managers) who are expected to learn on their own time and dime. - Blame game between departments when significant errors impact clients. - Senior leadership also doesn't seem to see the value in the "behind the scenes" production staff as every year these roles are cut. This only further exacerbates the stress load on everyone left. Their only concern is their bottom dollar. - A false culture of belonging is promoted when staff are seen as easily replaceable. - Direct family members to the owners working in production are protected as their colleagues feel they cannot bring their errors to light without consequence. - Leadership big on "process" but never followed through on nor adhered to when convenient to the situation. - Lots of staff turnover due to stress/workload.
