Pros

Good medical / dental / vision benefits

Cons

While there are some very good and bright individuals leading areas (sales, finance, shared services as examples), there are areas like IT that are run with a "I know better than you because I am a director" mentality. It only takes time before every individual in IT is used as the scape goat for managements poor decisions so that they do not take the blame. - No training provided to allow growth - Do not question those above you or you will be alienated - Do not complain about your treatment to those above your manager. - Salary is below the average in the area - Technologies used are old and not money is spent to investigate newer products

Disappointing and insecure future

Pros

Benefits and some co-workers. Covered parking and easy access to a highway. Nice building with gym. You can be a slacker

Cons

Company wants to success but is way too business conservative and very political. This causes them to have some questionable employees that take advantage of others. Some are not cut for the job or lazy, yet HR does not do anything to them being afraid of a lawsuit. Seems like like those that cut corners and cry are rewarded the most. Also seems like a bad for place for minorities. I've seen great people who wanted nothing more than the organization to succeed pushed out. Many try to figure out where the company is going and management does nothing to make them feel secure.

Pros

Good Medical Benefits 5% matching 401K Co-workers are easy to get along with

Cons

True "Buddy System" in management Very top heavy IT organization for a small group Lack of real leadership in the IT area Poor communication from leadership Pay is lower than can be found for other companies in the area Profit sharing and bonuses are rare The IT organization within this company is NOT where a talented and ambitious individual wants to be if they are looking to use new technologies, be treated with respect and feel you are part of a team. True leadership is lacking within the IT organization that would help the talented individuals they would like to have, understand what their tasks are and help them achieve them to benefit the company. Instead what is in place is a leadership team does not set direction or goals from above and then questions employees why they are making the decisions they do. The application development group lacks a leader that understands technology and how to lead individuals. Instead there is a "Leadership using fear" mentality that drives moral as low as it can go and does not communicate at all with the employees. The majority of IT employees are brought in as a "6 month contract to hire" and then are never hired even after 18 months or longer. In my years here I have seen many individuals finally quit to take a full time position since the company keeps saying "they are going to be hired but there is a freeze right now". The company is a revolving door of IT employees/contractors and do not understand the amount of technical knowledge that is loss with each individual that leaves.
