Pros

Still some good people left carrying the flag and God bless ‘em for sticking at it. The main “pro” at SIG was always the people that cared.

Cons

Fundamental lack of understanding from the MD down on what made SIG work (the people). No job security, branch closures, utterly ruthless in cutting costs regardless of effect on the staff Nothing, and I mean NOTHING, means more than the profit number at the end of the year. Everything else is considered as collateral damage The expertise that’s left the business in the last 18 months leaves the business in a very precarious position

Pros

Good starting salary and car.

Cons

This job is a job like no other. Most of the time when you see this sentence written it’s from a company selling you a unique career. This place is unique alright. There is a huge amount of pressure to succeed. Not hitting targets within your first three months? Say goodbye. Not got the right margin? The revolving door is starting to spin. Not at 100% of target every month after your probation? You’re scrutinised. Honestly the worst company I’ve ever worked for. You don’t have the tools to do the job, the management is atrocious and very much focused on making themselves look good and blaming any failings on their employees. There is absolutely zero training given. You are given a car and an iPad and told to sell with huge expectations. Anybody who has ever worked in the building trade knows that you cannot just develop relations and get £20k orders at the drop of a hat. It takes time and loyalty and most of all the experience of a good service. None of which are forthcoming with SIG. The hatred and bitterness shown from the internal sales to external is like nothing I’ve ever seen before - it’s truly a huge thorn in the side of the company. There is no internal communication whatsoever despite the weekly “comms pack” which reads about as well as The Daily Star. If you do not have any experience of working in insulation then this job will be very tough. It’s a company and role that is stuck in the 1970s and will continue to be failing should the managers not rid themselves of the huge amount of deadwood and haul themselves out of their 20th Century way of working.

Pros

- decent salaries and bonuses - good perks

Cons

1) bullying. There is not team work literally, people just trying to save their skin. 2) very long hours which do not matter in the end and you don't get any appreciation 3) The value of the company are just on paper, it's laughable. No one respects them 4) overall a very bad, toxic atmosphere 5) management changes more often than cars in a car wash
