Good call center, but don't expect a career

Pros

- 9-5 job, you don't have to worry abour work-life balance, - they have many diverse project, you can change from one to another - pretty well organized, good salary (depends on the project, sometimes it can be so-so) - some (limited) training opportunites

Cons

- no career path, very limited development opportunities - your salary stays pretty much the same, a lot depends also on the bonus

Pros

Location in Kuala Lumpur: Convenient to public transportation. Good food options. Fancy looking office building.

Cons

HR: Extremely insensitive to employees, they really don’t care at all. They are there to protect the company and not look out for employees. Even their own HR personnel are not aware of some of the labour laws in the country. And it seems they don’t communicate with each other so you will get different answers depending on who you’re asking Recruitment: They will try to fulfil the minimum requirements (mainly language), and try to force you to take the candidate even if they are not a fit. IT: Personnel is available to support from Monday to Friday between 9am to 6pm. If you have a team who works before or after that time, you’re pretty much screwed because there’s no one to fix it. Systems are all disconnected, you have to memorize diff system passwords and have no central access. No proper HR system. No attendance system, you have to manually fill up an attendance sheet on EXCEL. Everything is pretty much on an excel sheet that gets stored on a crudely constructed Sharepoint site. Management: The only priority for management is to make money. People are used to help them make more money. If they can hire robots to do the job, they probably will so they can avoid the efforts of having to deal with complaints, emotions, and overall human concerns. Some people at the top have toxic behaviours, they like to gossip and bad mouth others, and will pass it off as “public service” to say these bad things so as to keep them informed especially new hires. Salary, Benefits, Recognition, Extras: Below average salaries. Bare minimum benefits (medical, that’s about it). There used to be a gym membership but they’ve gotten rid of that. Some people have gone on for 3 years without increments. Even if you perform consistently. It’s very rare for people to last even 2 years here. But they don’t even bother to recognize. That’s how little they care for you. Career progression and stability: Not much progression. You’re better off finding a job elsewhere (better role, better pay). Once your project is done, they will hand you 1 month notice and out you go. No compensation whatsoever. It has happened over and over again in different projects. I’ve never seen a company like this that had so many people leave with so much anger, bitterness, and regret for having worked for such a dishonest company. Rarely would you hear someone proudly say that they worked for Sellbytel. Most people are just embarrassed.
