Pros

You learn what a company should NOT be.

Cons

I would fist like to say that I was shocked to see how highly SBLM was rated on this website all of the sudden! After reading though all of the sudden 5 star reviews, I quickly noticed how fake they sound, not to mention how they are posted quite consecutively. This is a small company and I know there can not be this many people posting on glassdoor all of the sudden. This just shows how low management here can stoop. While I worked at this company, I saw a lot of great working people get the boot. If you voiced your opinion, and it was different from the CEO's, you will most likely see your job posted online the next day..... and yes, they would post your job online before they let you know you were fired. - Pay was very low, and even lower if you were a woman/minority. - There is no respect for your opinion - Lack of structure - Lots of yelling - No investment in the employees - Lots of turnover (Great if you left own your own - but mostly people getting fired) - No room to grow - Archaic thinking

Truly a scary place to be

Pros

A pro is that when they forced us to work until 2 am, they at least didn't chain us to our desks, even though sometimes it felt like they would. Insurance is barely covered in the benefits, but some therapy was covered, which was much needed while working here!

Cons

The root cause of every problem at this company lies 100% with the CEO. I've never felt so stressed, terrified and unsafe in my life while working here. The CEO somehow felt compelled to have his nose in every project and conversation, regardless of the team or staff level. One day he could be berating a senior architect for hours and the next day be bothering an intern for the day. Which was always so interesting to me. I always wondered why someone with so much experience and talent had to be spending his time with junior level staff... don't they have their own managers? I'll never understand the creepy obsession! It was always so scary to walk in every morning not knowing who the CEO would latch onto and find a reason to lose their mind on them. An awful amount of loud yelling and screaming, loads of profanity. It's an abusive environment that is hard on your head and wellbeing. It was really disturbing to see hard-working people with families and personal lives have to deal with such a terrible boss. He goes off on weird power trips where anything he says goes, and if you don't like it, you're fired. One time he fired someone for taking a laptop home to do work! It was so crazy. Huge boys club. Lots of 50s era vibes going on here. Yes, you know what I mean. Benefits are weak. PTO is like the worst I've ever seen in this country. They don't even give summer Fridays... like come on, it's NYC! All of NYC does that. They monitor your computer use. One time I got scolded for being on Facebook. LOL They monitor your time in and out of the office. Good luck trying to ever leave before 6 PM. I had to get manager approval to take an extra-long lunch break to say bye to my sister who was moving to another country. LOL Anyway, good luck with the job search! Feel blessed knowing you're not gonna work here, because honey, you don't want to!

Feel Compelled to Balance Out the False High Rating

Pros

While there were positive aspects of the firm, they were all undercut by the underlying toxicity of the environment.

Cons

It was akin to being in an abusive relationship. You never knew what would cause senior management, without naming names, to fly off the handle. If you're a positive person and you want to join a firm that shares your values, this is not the place for you.
