Pros

No real lunch hour, which is great if you are on a diet comes to mind as a pro. In fairness, most of the people are extremely nice, smart and knowledgeable. Work can be intense on Wednesdays but if you are interested in the biotech business, you can learn a lot from some of the team members. So, it has the potential of being a brilliant place to work at, just continue reading.

Cons

The company is owned by three partners, two of whom are decent enough people. However, the line "we avoid drama" that I got in my interview is most definitely not true. And it's all thanks to the third partner, who can be safely labeled as a bully, inappropriate in his comments (both spoken in front of other employees and clients and in writing), brutish in manners and so forth. The list could go on and on. Safe to say that you will be undermined in your tasks and blamed after for poor performance. Anything you might say can and will be used against you. You will be punished for taking time-off, specially if you are entitled to. You will get angry communications at a very random times, for no good reason. And it will not stop, therefore come at your own peril, both mental and physical as the strain of being bullied 24/7 ends up taking its toll.

This individual is not a current employee but she did leave suddenly a week after receiving a mildly critical six month evaluation with the partner she singles out in her comments. Her resignation letter was gracious and thanked us for the encouragement she received during her eight months with the company. So naturally we're sorry to see the comments she has made on Glassdoor especially since we strongly encourage two way communications throughout the relationships we have with employees. This individual chose not to avail herself of this with actual discussion of issues and concerns. This is unfortunate because she could very well have continued and been a strong performer.

Pros

Most people there are incredibly smart and nice

Cons

This place will only hire you if you have an advanced degree - PhD, MD, MBA or combination thereof. They use the higher education of their employees to convince clients they have the smartest people working for them - which is kind of true - but they'll then pay you and give you a job title like you're straight out of an undergraduate degree. I have a PhD and was given a salary in the 40K range. They then make it clear that that's all they think you're worth. You'll never be valued at this company for what you're actually worth. When after working there for 5 months I asked for more money as the 40K range was just not cutting it for a 10 hour a day job given my education I was told I was getting paid more than I should be and they could hire someone for 10K less tomorrow that would do a better job. That's how you'll be treated if you work here. For such a lousy salary the hours are pretty bad - usually around 10 hour days - and if you leave before 6pm ever they'll freak out. Also for some reason the culture at this company is terrible despite most people there being pretty awesome. No one takes a lunch break - everyone's like afraid to leave their cube for even 10 minutes to get lunch - it's kinda sweatshoppy in that regard. Work here and your muscles will atrophy - including your brain. The work they gave me to do could be done by college kids - but instead they'll hire you with a PhD so they can sell your degree to their clients. Once people realize that the pay and culture suck and they can do better elsewhere they leave - they have a horrible turnover problem. In the 8 or so months I was there 3 people (out of 10 employees) left and even more have gone since - so they are constantly replacing people.

Russo Partners does hire many individuals with advanced degrees. This is part of our culture and is one of the key benefits we offer our clients – people who actually understand what they’re up to. Many of the individuals we hire with advanced degrees come in with little or no business experience. Some work out. Some don’t. It’s a big transition to go from pure science to public relations. We spend a lot of time training and for those who click, they move up quickly in terms of salary and responsibility. All of our salaries are above industry standards for title and responsibility. Our average tenure is around five years. For those who don’t make the cut, the average tenure is around six months. Lastly, all members of the management/owner team are actively involved in the day to day work of the company as would be the case with any boutique agency with a strong reputation in the industry.

Pros

The interview process was quick and organized.

Cons

They rescinded my offer 36 hours before my first day with a cold generic email only 2 sentences long. They knew I walked away from several other processes for this role as well. I've reached out several times for some context, with no response yet. If this is how they handle business, definitely dodged a bullet.
