Pros

Good food, fast paced environment.

Cons

The owner is a pompous individual who attempts to have unprofessional relationships with ANY attractive staff member in turn rewarding the employees who give in. There is no value in you with this company unless you sleep with him. He curses and treats everyone else like peasants who should worship the ground he walks on.

Pros

You will spend so many hours there that bonding with other staff is inevitable and you will make good friendships.

Cons

Whew. I’ll start by saying servers only take home maybe 40% of their tip earnings after tip out and “taxes”. Many of the employees felt like their pay checks were being skimmed and I did as well. They keep the pay situation pretty distant from servers so it’s difficult to keep track of how much you should be getting paid exactly, and when you ask about it, you are scoffed at and payroll intentionally takes forever to get back to you. Servers are treated like everyone is replaceable and are told this constantly. Especially if you’re a person of color. Diversity is extremely lacking. Hair policies are not race inclusive (natural black hair styles are “unprofessional”). Only people that are deemed conventionally “attractive” by Rumi’s and Alpharetta clientele will be hired unless they are desperate for more employees. If they are desperate, they will hire you even if you don’t fit their “look”. But they will give you the worst sections. Give you the most undesirable jobs, and tighten up your pocket as much as they can so you quit once they don’t need you anymore. Many days servers who work doubles (10am-11pm) are given no break, and told that there is stale pizza in the back. It is on the servers to find a second to breathe between tables and go scarf down some pizza for their “break” on a 12+ hour day. Even when doctors notes are provided, servers are reprimanded and guilt tripped for needing to take days off for medical or family emergencies. This creates intense and toxic pressure for employees to place the restaurant before everything in their life, including personal health and well-being. The owner is a tyrant and an absolute a*hole. He leads through fear and wants every single person who works for him, management included, to fear him. I truly believe he is the stem of all the issues and the bad energy and toxicity trickles down from him. He is an old, traditional, rich Persian man that will create any environment necessary to make those people move how he needs them too to make him more money. I could go on, but I think the message is clear. I have no personal vendetta against this place. But I wish I had known what I was walking into when I was hired here. There is no one who currently works there that could truthfully deny any of the statements above.
