Pros

Well managed financially, fairly nimble in responding to sales opportunities, benefits and vacation were competitive, open to people with different professional backgrounds, low corporate bureaucracy.

Cons

There is essentially no way to think long term or strategically in a smaller Roper company because short term financial metrics predominate over longer term strategic considerations, what strategy we did have was disconnected from operational capabilities and not communicated to employees, management culture was secretive and reactive, job descriptions and org charts were either undocumented or kept secret from employees, org charts had bizarre reporting relationships and spans of control which hampered execution, no performance feedback was provided to employees .

Pros

People are friendly and the environment is clean

Cons

Your career will never advance at this company. It serves a small number of old-timers quite well, but everyone else is expendable and they will not hesitate to get rid of you.

Pros

The Energy Services and Controls group in Houston has nice facilities and a good HR team. The work environment was pleasant, but one can chalk that up to Houston culture.

Cons

High turnover & a disconnect between management and staff. Roper was good at driving quality people away. Didn't see much of our outrageous operating profit invested back in the business.
