Pros

I truly believe we have the best MD in media here in Melbourne. We have some truly brilliant staff and I’m constantly impressed by the talent around me. The progression opportunities at Reso/OMG have been incredible and I’ve learned so much during my tenure here. We also have an incredible client roster providing the opportunity to put some big name brands on your CV. 12 months ago, I would’ve raved about the culture, the perks, the support from senior management but unfortunately that’s all gone downhill.

Cons

Unfortunately recent organizational changes have put a lot of control in Sydney where there is little visibility into what is going on in Melbourne and what we actually need. Teams are stretched and short staffed due to poor contract structures by the media agencies. We are constantly being forced to take annual leave to appease shareholders. We’ve been preached to over and over that while pay across OMG is lower than the market, it’s because we make up for it with our entertainment and culture budget. Unfortunately that budgets been slashed this year so you’ve essentially slashed our salaries. Workloads are so heavy and overwhelming teams are constantly working overtime and while we do get time in lieu to take it back, as a manager it’s so sad to see my team struggling and knowing that I can’t do anything about it because no one in Sydney understands or cares about us to fix it. All of this has led to staff being unengaged and uninterested in doing anything beyond collecting a paycheck. Getting teams to come into the office is like pulling teeth even with things like free lunch. The culture, happiness, and hope is just gone.

Toxic and backstabbing culture

Pros

Some people in the company are genuinely nice

Cons

Backstabbing senior managers who will blame their mistakes and incompetency at their team members. Management doesn't take feedback and wonders why the turnover rate is so higher. Low pay and excessive workload. Covering mistakes with the clients and lack of transparency.
